The outgoing station director in May of 1968 was John Heckenlively, seen here in the room we grandly called the Inner Office.  I recall that the previous month, when Martin Luther King was assassinated, John and I tried to decide what the station should do.  He was in favor of suspending normal programming.  As program director, I favored keeping normal programs but including some of Dr. King's recorded speeches and sermons which we had on hand.  My plan won out, but in hindsight, I don't know whether it was the better plan.
