Inside I found Stan Robinson (left) and Freeman Morgan.

Stan was the station director when WOBC first began broadcasting in FM in 1961-62.  For the previous decade, the station had been AM only, available only in certain specially-wired dorms.

Freeman is one of about nine volunteer "community DJs" at the station; he's been doing a show there for 17 years, currently bluegrass and gospel on Sunday afternoons.  (Except for these community DJ's, the staff has always consisted of college students.)

We talked in what was known in my day as the Outer Office, near where the staff mail slots used to be.  The map on the wall shows that this room and the Inner Office are now lined with music, old LPs as well as modern CDs.
