My father,
Vernon M. Thomas, as the sales manager of Charles H. Sipe Chevrolet in
Cambridge,
Ohio. The photo is dated 1939, but I suspect it may have
actually been
taken in
the fall of 1941 because the vehicle appears to be a 1942 pickup truck.
This
picture is taken from a tiny scratched original which seems to have
been torn from
a sheet of
contact prints. I spent some time figuring out how to scan the
image in high reso-
lution,
then retouching it (including darkening the background relative to
the foreground).
