10/22/07 Salmonella
So, I finally went to the grocery store and stocked my "pantry" with various items (because 30 shekels for a meal will eat through a stipend faster than a bank error). Everything went well until I decided to try and eat the food I bought. See, the only applance we have in our room is a refridgerator. When trying to make food, this usually doesn't help. I had bought several instant soups (just add hot water), and wanted to make one. Due to a lack of appliances, I had to use hot water from the tap in our bathroom. I discovered the hard way that tap water becomes lukewarm faster than 30 shekels per meal eats through a stipend. This is a major problem, as instant soups don't absorb water very well. And cold soup gets old faster than tap water becomes lukewarm. Normally, one would be inclined to think that they want us to go out and buy a hot plate and other things. It just so happens that the other building has a microwave and these other things. I'm going to try and secure funding, but in the meantime, I'll have to settle for crackers and bruschetta. 2007-10-22 18:28:43 GMT
