3/30/08 8000 chickens ![]() For the past week and a day, I've been working with another Nativer in a series of 3 chicken coops at a Moshav down the road from the kibbutz. Most of what we've been doing is tedious gruntwork, however it needs to be ready for the arrival of 8000 chickens. When they will be arriving is a mystery, since both of us thought that the people there said they would be arriving last Thursday. So far, we've placed the brown plastic walkway on the right side of the picture in 2 coops, and hung the red water dispensers. Another time when I was there, I took care of the yellow feeders towards the top. On the far right side is where the chickens go to lay eggs, which did not need to be replaced. In a related story, I learned that the person we work for has a friend working in a carpet business somewhere in Minnesota. Also, I saw 9 IAF jets while working today. Normally, I hear one or 2 a day. Last Tuesday was our Israel advocacy seminar. The kibbutz group was privilaged to have one of the best public speaking trainers e-var running the seminar, while the other 2 groups got the David project. First, we learned a step-by-step process in how to deal with direct confrontation (i.e. "How can you support an Apartheid state?"), then we had a simulation where we planned a week of Israel programs, while having to deal with the media, all the logistics, and constant "death to the zionists!" text messages. It was very realistic, and came very close to what we should expect in college. 2008-03-30 18:33:57 GMT
