The Adventures of an American in Israel for 9 months.
4/26/08 What are you going to do with your extra day of unleavened bread?

Before pesach, I was working in olive fields again, so there wasn't much that was happening.

During Pesach, I stayed in Jerusalem with Arie and Noemi Ron, and went with them to Tel Aviv for the seder (Oh no, I drove on Yom Tov!). The seder at Jonny Ron's (Arie & Noemi's son) house was nearly identical to our seder, except the "my father was a wandering Aramenian" part was read in hebrew at the speed of Isreali, so it took maybe 5 minutes.

I stayed with Arie and Noemi until Monday, when I went back to Kibbutz. I made a small side trip on the way to Harel Mall in Mevasseret, where I was able to enjoy a Kosher for Passover Big Mac. While the hamburger itself was the same, the bun tasted as bad as a Kosher for Passover bread substitute usually does, so I took it off.

I stayed for 2 days on kibbutz, enjoying 4 meals of chicken, 2 of which were barbecued.

On Wednesday, I made a 4-hour journey to Anne and Matt Picus. On Thursday, they took me and their kids to the pool, and then to the opening of the National Water Carrier, where I heard Jonny Ron's orchestra play.

I came back on Friday for shabbat, and now I'm here getting ready to break the feast.
