11/18/08 The End
We're coming down to our final 24 hours in Israel. This week has been devoted to summing up the year and giving us an idea of where do we go from here, including the A word (Aliy*h). Tomorrow, we have breakfast at 9:00, the kibbutz group banquet at 10:30, the final Nativ banquet at 4:30, and dinner at 6:00. At 7:00, we leave for the airport, and at 5:50 in the morning (EST), we land. I noticed that my last update was from Pesach, and some things have happened since then, so I'll post what hapened here: On the night of Yom Hazikaron, we had a ceremony for fallen soldiers, including a presentation I gave on one of our relatives who fell in the war of independence, Zwi Lustig. Early in the morning, we left for Jerusalem, where we attended the ceremony at Har Herzl with 7 million Israelis (or at least it SEEMED like 7 million). We then had a small program at Beit Nativ, and then were given free time until the next night. On Yom Ha'atzmaut, we had a barbecue in Gan Ha'atzmaut with 7 million other Israelis (or at least it SEEMED like 7 million), with chicken, hamburgers, steak, kabobs, and many other kinds of meat. The buses left in the afternoon, and we spent the next few days packing before coming back here (including a day at the beach). And now I'm here in my final hours of being an Israeli. 2008-05-18 16:59:05 GMT
