boats these days, especially powered craft, many of which are fitted with a bewildering array of navigation, control and entertainment equipment, virtually all of which is electronic.

Perhaps it is a good thing that there remain many of us who eschew the intricacies of the modern age and continue to rely on simple sticks and string to drive and control our sailing craft.  Are we reactionaries?  I do not think so.  There is much satisfaction to be

uddenly, after all the hectic socializing over the Festive Season it is now mid January 2002 and time to plan our New Year objectives for TYC.

Our prime goal for the year will be to enter a crew representing the club in the Lipton Cup. We have many talented young sailors so should have little difficulty with selection. The Lipton Cup boat class is the L26 and Reinholt Antweiler has generously made his boat available for the team. The rest is up to us, the members, to raise funds in order to sponsor our challenge.

We have planned several social events including a Greek evening in February and the famous Scorey Fillet evening in March.
