Taft's Last Hurrah |

Welp, I leave for GDB University tomorrow! I can't believe it's already here! I hope I'm ready! I know I'll have fun (I'm just that kind of guy!). I wonder if they will let me call Mom if I get home sick. But, that will get all the other guys laughing at me. I guess I'll just have to see how it goes. I have some friends already there, so it shouldn't be too bad.
Mom and Brenda took me out for some fun on my last day before school starts. We went to see some other GDB dogs graduate from The San Francisco Hearing Dog school. It was neat! Maybe if I don't become a guide dog, I'll go check out the whole hearing dog thing -I hear they get treats! *drool* After that, we went to eat lunch at Plutos. Brenda says I'll probably go to that place while I'm at school -the instructors like to eat in front of us poor, starving labradors while we are out working. Maybe my sad eyes will work on them! (I know, I know, Mom says I'm dreaming too!) After lunch, we went to the Exploratorium in San Francisco. What a neat place! Look at all the fun I had! |

I spent a lot of the day thinking, "Hey! How do they do that??" There was this great ball that just floated in mid air! It sat there as still as I sat under it. Good thing, I wouldn't want it to have been misbehaving in our picture! I got to put my feet up on a stool so I could see what was going on (there are disadvantages to being 4-footed & short. I can't imagine all the fun that Great Danes must have!) When you flip the switch, it makes the tube glow! That was nifty! I sat in front of a video camera too -but it made my picture look all funny! What's that neon stuff?? I'm supposed to be the color of a lightly toasted marshmallow! |

OK, maybe being a Great Dane isn't all that. I got to see some little things make big impacts on their displays! when we moved the big round acrylic ball, a little metal ball, swishing around inside made a TON of noise! I thought it was cool! I could put my nose right up to it & feel the vibrations that the little ball made!
Then we saw this huge column. On the outside of the display, there was this little bitty magnet. We tossed the magnet over to the big column & pulled gently. That one little magnet made the big column move -at least if you pulled your magnet at the right time! Little packages can do big things -I'm gonna do big things too! Just you wait and see! |
