Well, I'm off to school! I can't believe how fast the last couple months have flown by! Mom and I did so much while we were together! On a Sunday morning in October, 2002, Mom loaded me into the car & we took our last drive to GDB together. But, on the way, we stopped for more film (Heaven forbid Mom ever be out of film!) A woman waltzed up to us and, leaning over & petting me, said, "Oh, I could never do that. I love my dogs too much." Mom promptly started blubbering & informed her that I am VERY loved & what a big life awaits me. Bad day for that comment! We are pretty sure that woman will never say raisers don't love |

their pups again -at least not to another puppy raiser! So, then we continued on our way. Mom took me to the BEST spot on campus - the Kennel Kitchen! That place is Labbie Heaven! All that dog food! All the yummy smellls - I get hungry just thinking about that place (I am a lab, ya know!)
Annie, one of the kennel techs, met us there. Mom hugged me a bunch of times and kept telling me to be a good boy. Gee, like I would be a bad boy Mom! Yeesh! So, Mom kissed the top of my head one last time, and Annie took me to my new room. You'll notice that my comfy bed did not get smuggled in with me. Bummer!
Then the work started! I met my group of instructors -Jeff was my primary instructor. And guess what - I had met some of them before! It is always good to see old friends! We did TONS of obedience! Then we got our new school uniforms. I turned in my green puppy coat for leather! Woo hoo!! I look so good in my harness! It was a lot of work, but I had a lot of fun (especially before my girlfriend, Laney, got her career change assignment! Her new job was to be a pet with her mom, dad & siblings!) I really liked community run time -but Mom made me promise not to talk about my favorite game!
I did lots of work, but it was worth it! I have lots ahead of me in this life! |
