Clarence and Ann Lee arrived in Grafton NSW about 1912 and after working for retailing merchants Gerard & Co for a few years Clarence purchased a drapery business in South Grafton in June 1916. He was elected to South Grafton Municipal Council 22 February 1919. He was elected Mayor of South Grafton 29 December 1921 a position he retained until the municipal election held on December 2nd 1922, at which time Mr Lee did not seek re-election to council. Clarence and Ann were actively involved in local community organisations, in particular the Methodist Church and left the district in 1923.

Re spellings: I believe 'Hezekiah' is the correct spelling of Clarence Lee's father. I'm not sure about 'Aquilla' 'Acquella' '96 I think Acquella is incorrect but wonder if it should be Aquila? Anyway, it was Aquilla on his birth certificate. I have no connection with the Lee or Pascoe families, my only interest is in connection with research to establish a photographic gallery of former mayors of Grafton and South Grafton Councils and in particular trying to locate a photo of Clarence Lee.
