| Windows 95&98 tend to set virtual MEM. so big that extra stuff gets placed in different sectors on your hard drive, so that when you need some thing placed there, its like trying to find where you left your car keys in a big house after laying them down last night while over indulging on Spirits (Alcohol) they can be found, but you may have to check in every room in the house to find them. |
| So lets put them in one room so to speak, and speed up the hunting proccess. Right click on my computer, then click on properties, then performance, then Virtual Memory. |
| Now you want to set it to "256" Maximum & Minimum. Your system will try to tell you this is dangerous, but go ahead and set it any way. |
| Now if your not using Cacheman ( a Neat little program for setting up how extra memory is used) go to file system and under hard Disk set your computer role to "Network Server". |
| after u have done these two thing's, Re- Start your computer and then defrag C: drive. |
| This will place the car keys is one room of the houes and put a string on your finger to let you know what room you left them in, and this will reduce the time it takes to find them.(metaphorically speaking) |
| at the main menu start of unreal tournament hit the tile key (it looks like this ~ ).Then type in preferences and hit hit the enter key. |
| Goto Unreal's Options/Advanced Options/Advanced/Game Engine Setting/CacheSizeMegs
It will probably be set to '2' OR '4' Change it to a number about 3/4 or 1/2 of your computers Total memory (gotta leave some for win9X??). |
| Example:If you have 256meg set it to 192. Example: If you have 128meg of ram set it to 96. Example: if u have 64meg set at 32. SORRY:If you have any less than 64meg u really need more. Try to get some |
| Close the window and exit Unreal properly. Restart Unreal and enjoy much less stuttering. |

| open [mapname] - open a map of your choosing at any time |
| addbots [#] - add a number [#] of bots to the level |
| summon [item] - make an item appear (see list below) |
| summon unreali.[itemname] - make an [itemname] appear (see list below) |
| summon unreali.[opponentname] - bring on an opponent [opponentname] (see list below) |
There are a lot of other tweaks for unreal that also will help,
but most of these can be accessed from the options menu when u first get UT up and running
things like turning back the sound and video display settings, reducing the size of the heads up display
shutting off the auto taunts and others like this will help to get the game to play better, and faster, but it may not look or sound its best
use these as you see fit.
