Introduction

Taiga, woodmetal from the forest:
Taiga is a band from Sweden. Or to be more precise; from the primtive and stinky little village called Norrköping, where all the savages, trolls and viking berserks live, located in the southern parts of Sweden. The quarted plays metal in various formats, influensed by so many bands and so many geners that it would be meningless to point out any of them. But we'll do that anyway:
Vintersorg/Otyg, Cradle of filth, Death, Pantera, Nightwish, Garmarna, Herr Arnes Penningar, Åsa Jinder, Edward Grieg, Finntroll, Cannibal Corpse, Björn Isfält, Jan Johansson, Cynic, Aghora, Imperiet, John Fogerty, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theater, Metallica etc. has meant a hole lot for the band and its musical explorations and extravagant holocaustcreations through all the years it has existed (more or less). Nowadays, inspiration is gathered from all around and it's used as we see fit. Which means that we blend everything in a crazy mix but never let it slip too far away from what is TAIGA.

So how do we sound like? Well, we try to make every song like if it was a little musical of its own and the mood of the riffs are prefered "gloomy" and fairylike" with a cosy little touch of mad drumplaying and beautiful female singing. We want our music to be like portraits of the wild and all the mystical creatures and beasts that inhabits it.

Sometimes our singer "scream" in very high pitches. It is a very old technic traditionally used in sweden for callin on cows. When the girls that shepered the cattleherds "kulade", as it is called with a swedish tounge, it could echo miles and miles through the forests. A heritage from our ancestors that we'd like to keep alive.

Our lyrics are very inspired by the Romanticism of 19th century. Especially swedish poetry of 1890th (Fröding etc.). We write about nature (as we would want it to be), supreme beings, ghosts, the past, beasts etc. And we really try to say something with the words that we've put to paper. As well as our knowledge about the english language lets us. But if we're to be fully honest here, that statement is not entirely true.. Some of the lyrics are just pure, vulgar, entertainment for sick, deppressed and thouroughly damaged minds. Like the ones of our own.
