She is a Gamma, or medium-ranked, member of her House and specifically she is a computer genius, though Erloch uses her for far more demeaning tasks than programming and hacking.
• Duties
Depending on who one talks to, Caran has one of two job descriptions. First and foremost in her mind, is her computer expertise. She and Tyrach can hack into almost any system, and program electronics and some machinery to do their bidding. Her second job description is that of pleasing her master, who just so happens to be Erloch.

Because she is not true ostrich, she is able to sport the flashier black-and-white plumage of a male ostrich. She was engineered to be a pleasure slave, though her intelligence is so great that there is that other boon. She sports a "crest" of feathery, hand-length silvery-blond hair that flutters in the slightest breeze. Her entire body is covered in soft down that is nearly indistinguishable from her fleshtone, where it is not exhuberently plumed in feathers.
