Cody McBride, ex-pat private eye from LA, is the only man brave enough to leave the safety of the shelters and investigate when a silver sphere falls from the sky and crashes nearby - and glimpses something emerging from within. But the military dismisses his account of events - the sphere is simply a new German secret weapon that has malfunctioned in some way. What else could it be?

Arriving amid the chaos, the Doctor and Ace realise that this silver sphere isn't just another German bomb. it bears all the hallmarks of sophisticated alien technology - and whatever was inside it is now loose in London.

Before long, they have embarked on a trail that brings them face to face with the Nazis and - even worse - some very old enemies.
