Life is not a Disney movie

There are some pairings out there that just seem too perfect to be true.  Takari, for instance.  Look at the evidence!  Their crests, Hope and Light, just go soooooo well together.  They both have angel digimon, too, which of course is an indication that they should be together.  Plus their older brothers are best friends, so they would get to see each other a lot.   Oh, isn't it just glorious?
Takari itself is not a bad couple.  I have nothing against it; I was pretty keen on it myself at one time.  My troubles start when people take something with a lot of evidence and turn it into a religion that cannot be tampered with on pain of death.

Perfection isn't something I'm very tolerant of.  I love living in shades of grey, where bad can be good and good can be bad.  Evidence is one thing, but too much of it (particularly irrelevant stuff like 'their crests go well together) can be a turn-off for me.

Getting religious about your couples can be dangerous too.  We all know what happened to Takari when 02 rolled around - Daisuke showed up, announced his love for Hikari and immediately shot to number one on the bashers' lists.  (He later had to revoke this position in favour of his older sister, who even later had to compete with Sora...)  Bashing is not nice.  I reckon it's sort of ugly, just in the way that hatred can be ugly.  Getting too serious about couples also gets you into arguments with people who like couples that mess with yours - just ask any Sorato fan.  Every so often it's a good idea to step back and remember that it's just a show.

My particular problem with fluff fiction is a little less urgent, though.  This next paragraph has no argumentative value.  I just wanted people to know how I feel about it.
Fluff fiction, for the uninitiated, is a romance fic that focuses on romance.  There's often nothing about how the characters got together and in fanfiction it rarely has anything to do with the fandom.  It's also sugary-sweet; these characters have the perfect loving relationship.  How wonderful.
I don't really like fanfiction that has little relevance to its fandom.  If you're not making a single mention of digimon or the digital world in a digimon fic then you may as well whack the thing in the Original >> Short Stories forum.  No-one will know the difference.  Plus you've already heard about my little problem with perfection.  Even the slightest distraction - like someone walking in on the couple while they're snogging - is better that pure sap.  Oh, and I always prefer a plot.

Fluff fiction aside, it's not really a good idea to let your obsession with a couple get out of hand.  Don't  confuse 'evidence' with 'proof'.  Don't get too riled about characters that could mess with your couple.  And please, please don't go around flaming people who support couples that mess with yours.

Please.
