Hippies are getting out of a school bus on the side of a corn field, and Owen Crawford gets out of a government car to investigate. Eric mentions that this could be his proof. They set up a temporary installation, Owen talks about getting the President to personally visit the site. A military helicopter shows up. Owen and Eric board to have a better look at the situation and we discover they're at a crop circle. The President did not show up.
Crawford tries to leverage the position by showing his power: he admits to ruining people and he's outlasted 5 presidents. He tries threatening Coby Woodrow and Ted Olson, the two NSA agents who showed up in place of the president.
One of the NSA agents points out another crop circle formation. It happens to be a peace symbol with the word "Howdy" underneath.
Salmon River, Alaska April 5, 1970
Dr. Powell, Darrell, Buzz, and Sara are investigating an Indian tomb of the Chim Chim people. Dr. Powell points out that few people would settle on that land, not even Russian colonists. Darrell falls through the floor to discover a mummy and hieroglyphics.
Groom Lake, Nevada April 6, 1970
Colonel Crawford is cleaning out his office as he has been relieved of his duties. He and his former subordinate discuss Jesse Keys, and Colonel Crawford is sure they'll never see him again.
Chicago, Illinois April 11, 1970
Lt. Frank Pierce (is this some kind of joke?) gets off the bus, finds a war buddy and goes back to his place. We learn that Frank Pierce has a drug habit, as does his buddy. Frank explains that he's protected by aliens, and that's how he saved all those people in Vietnam. He had no fear, because his "friends" would protect him. His friend says that he has some kind of power and should stop using Heroin.
Salmon River, Alaska April 11, 1970
Dr. Powell shows up at the Salmon River General Store, expecting a telegram. The clerk does not like them digging up the towns past, and should leave everything alone.
Las Vegas, Nevada April 12, 1970
Owen and Eric are discussing their "Friends" when Sam walks in the door. Eric leaves the room. The conversation turns to Owen's career and how a prankster by the name of Tom Clarke ruined it.
Sam is obviously a counter-culture hippie type who jokes about Aliens and McCarthyism: "Perhaps they would form a Senate anti-earth committee to determine the threat and weed out alien sympathizers."
Later that day, Sam reads about the Alaska mummy find in the newspaper and immediately recognises the hieroglyphics. He gets the artifact from the wall safe and checks the heiroglyphics on it against those in the paper.
Owen walks in and scares him. The conversation goes towards the story of Jacob Clarke. Jacob shows people what they fear most: their own death. Sam surmises that Owen saw what he might deserve in death.
Owen sees the newspaper clipping and says "There's your pulitzer while still an undergraduate. You just need someone to believe you."
Hyder, Alaska April 16, 1970
Sam drives from Berkely California to Hyder Alaska to learn more about the Mummy.
Chicago, Illinois April 16, 1970
Frank Pierce is homeless and tries to exchange some WWII medals for heroin. His dealer won't take them. He later shows up in a hospital lobby and collapses.
Salmon River, Alaska April 17, 1970
Dr. Powell has some material from the mummy analyzed and they find it's only 6 years old. The dig has turned into a murder investigation. The mummy disappears as Dr. Powell and the sherriff are discussing the Mummy. They find three finger marks on the door.
At the general store, Champ (a dog) leaves and goes into the nearby woods as a man is seeking advice on how to avoid mosquitos. Wendy runs after the dog, and Louise (the clerk) yells for her. She discovers Wendy's doll and runs into the woods to find her. The sherriff is called in to investigate.
Later that night, Dr. Powell is discussing the significance of the Raven to Sam and Darrell. Buzz and Sara run off into the woods because "Nature Calls". Darrell makes an observation that Sylvester the cat from Warner Brothers cartoons is a shapeshifter because he sometimes gets a white paint stripe down his back and looks like a skunk. Huh-huh huh.
Sara screams at an old man in the woods while Darrell puts on the Raven mask and begins laughing like he's stoned or something, then disappears.
Chicago, Illinois April 18, 1970
Frank Pierce is in a packed hospital room. A nurse (Amelia) is tending to him, and another man is heckling her. She gets up and dumps food on his head.
Hyder, Alaska April 18, 1970
Sherriff doesn't care that Darrell is missing. The locals are scared that "It's happening again".
Chicago, Illinois April 18, 1970
Frank Pierce and Nurse Ameila are walking through a park and they're talking about his past. He looks over her shoulder and sees a man playing with life-sized bubbles and has a flashback to the circus truck. He rushes the man, tackles him, and then realizes that he's made a mistake. He then tells Amelia to call him Jesse, not Frank. "I'll explain all of this in the future."
"It's not bravery when you know you won't get hurt". That's why he did what he did. The other 27 men in his group died, but his "Friends" saved him.
Salmon River, Alaska April 18, 1970
Sam, Buzz, and Dr. Powell go to search for Darrell in the woods. Sara stays back. "Whistle if you're in trouble." Buzz sees a raven above a cabin. He goes into the cabin, and sees Darrell's face looking down from the attic. There's a petrified look of terror in his eyes.
Back at the cabin, Sara is making beans
WHISTLE BLOWN
Sam runs back to the cabin to find burning beans on the stove, but Sara's not there. He searches for her around the cabin, and she's in shock in a fern.
At the local bar, the doctor is talking to the sherriff, and the sherriff blames the old man for what's happening. Sam brings in Sara and she's rambling "His Eyes. He came through the burial chamber, OH GOD HIS EYES!!!"
The sherriff tells Sam he should leave right then and there, or he's not leaving ever, and that they'll be taking a trip.
Sam goes back to the burial chamber, discovers a passage and snoops around. The passage takes him to the mummy, which is lying on a rock. Sam pulls back the mummy's face cloth to discover an Alien Skull.
A mysterious figure returns to the mummy, Sam sees the figure's face and slides down the hill in shock. He looks up and sees the old man at the top of the hill.
Sam is in the burial chamber with the old man, we now learn his name is Leo. he explains that his daughter, Nadine, went into the woods in 1948, to check out lights that weren't the Aurora Borealis. She returned a day and a half later not knowing what had happened. Four months later she started to show. She gave birth to twins, Larry and Lester. The old man describes what people see when they look into either's eyes, and Sam has a flashback to Owen describing Jacob Clarke's eyes.
Later the sherriff is taking Sam on a trip, and describes killing Lester. The car stops, and Sam escapes and runs through the woods. Leo discovers Sam and asks him for help. Sam follows him.
Sam and Larry talk about Lester's death, and Larry's uncontrollable desire to write a strange language that makes no sense. Lester should feel comfortable, so Larry is trying to revive him by surrounding him with this language.
A Frankenstein-type mob shows up to burn down the cabin with Larry inside.
Eric is in the crowd to collect his "proof": the half-breed. The townspeople light the home on fire despite Sam's protests. He runs back in to save Larry but makes a fatal mistake of looking into his eyes. Eric doesn't seem to mind that his brother Sam is dying in the fire. He just leaves.
Las Vegas, Nevada May 4, 1970
Owen, Eric, and Julia are on the porch with thier new baby. Owen and Eric discuss Sam and how he was looking for evidence to destroy Owen, and Owen has a flashback to his experience with Jacob Clarke. Owen has a stroke.

Amelia and Jesse are gettin' it on. Jesse proposes and Amelia says yes.
Las Vegas, Nevada May 28, 1970
Eric inherits his father's house. A workman is torching open the wallsafe, and discovers the artifact inside with a note saying that he finally proved himself.
Salmon River, Alaska May 28, 1970
The sherriff is blowing up the burial site.
