Chapter Ten

Alyssa sat on the couch in Matt's dressing room. She was talking to Lita as she waited for him. "So, you two are going on a big date?" Lita asked. "Yeah. What's taking him so long though?" "I dunno." Alyssa looked at her,"You know something I don't don't you?" "No, I have no idea!" Lita protested. Alyssa just sat there and gave her a look. "Ok, ok. It's a surprise. I promised him I wouldn't tell you !" "Fair enough!" They both jumped when the door opened. It was Matt. "Well...I'll see you later Lyssa." Lita waved as she left. "I have bad news!" Matt said. "What?!" Lyssa asked worrie. "It looks like you might have alot more time to spend with me. I just finished talking to Vince..." he paused to keep high suspense, "... 'cause he said you could stick around...AS A MANAGER!!!" "Oh my God!!" Lyssa yelled jumping up to hug him. Matt gave her a kiss on the cheek, "But that means we'll have to see each other everyday." "Awww man...look what you've done Matt. You've gone and ruined my life!" she smiled. He laughed, "Well, we should be going." "Yes," she replied. Linking their arms, they set out.     "I'll have the steak," Mark ordered. "Ummm, I'll have...the philly steak and swiss with some mozerlla stick." Aurora smiled seetly at the waitress. "Ok, is there anything else?" "No. we're fine. Thank you. " "So. do you have anything big planned for our first real date?" she smiled. "Maybe...you'll see!!" She just stuck her tongue out at him. He laughed. When they were done the meal the two of them headed out for the car. When they got there, Mark puuled a strip of fabric from his pocket. "I don't wanna know what that's for!" Mark shook his head and smiled, "You'll see." Aurora was suddenly engulfed in darkness, "I hate blindfolds!" "Well there goes our fun for the night!" She giggled. Mark herlped her into the car and they set off. Aurora could feel the car slowly stop and heard Mark open her door. Slowly, so she didn't hurt herself,  she let Mark help her out of the car. He picked her up in his arms likei n all those romantic mocies she had seen and carried her somewhere. He set her down on a bench and took the blindfold off. She look around to see that she was in the garden she had taken him to when they first met. Mark kneeled beside her and her heart started to best fast. "Aurora, this past month has been absolute heaven for me. I know we haven't known each other long but I fell in love with you the moment I saw  you> And everyday my love grows stronger. You are just such an amazing person. Nothing would make me happier that if you would spend the rest of your life with me. Will you marry me?" Aurora put her hand over he mouth to hold in a gasp. Tears started running down her cheeks. "Yes," she nodded. He slipped the ring on her finger. Bringing her close he kissed her passionately.    Later that night, Aurora went down to the hotel pool. She couldn't get to sleep. The thought of telling everyong the big news got her all excited. The only problem was, no one was awake to tell. Lost in her thoughts and fantasies of her life with Mark, she let her bathrobe gall and set it on the chair. "Hey!" Aurora jumped, "Oh, Adam! You scared me!" "I'm sorry," he flashed her one of his heart melting smiles. It made her forget about Mark for a second. Adam looked down to see something sparkle and her left hand. His heart split in two! He lifted her hand, "Did Mark...?" The last word caught in his throat. That dreadful word. PROPOSE. "Yeah," she smiled shyly, "he did." The was an awkward silence. "Congratulations!" he exclaimed gicing her a huge hug. Aurora notice a sad look in his eyes, "Adam are you ok?" "Ya...I'm fine" "Adam you can tell me! I'm your friend..." "I'm fine!" he yelled and turned to leave. Aurora grabbed his arm and pulled him back. "Adam, there's something wrong and I want to know what it is! I'm not going to sit back and watch someone I care aboutget in trouble. Tell me please!" she begged. He looked at the florr uncomfortably, "It's really stupid." "I don't care!" she said, almost in tears. "I love you," he blurted out, "I have since I saw you walk through those arena doors that one day! I mean, Rora! You're every guys dream. You're beautiful, smart, funny, sweet, and you're tough as hell. But Mark had you. I've wanted to be more than friends for so long! But Mark had you..." Surora was shocked, "I...I...I had no idea you felt that way! But Adam, look at me. I do love you...but only as a friend. I know it hurts. Trust me. It feels like someone ripped our your heart, stomped on it a few times, and then gave it back to you." "Telll me about it!" "There's something else isn't there?" "Yeah," "What is it?" Adam took in a deep breath, "There's this guy> WE were pretty good friends, until I found out what he was really like. I broke it off. Ever since, he's been trying to make my life miserable. The moment I'd be happy he'd ruin it all. He eventually was caught but I just found out tongiht that he got out of jail about a month ago. He'd know how I feel for you...he'd do it to you too!" he broke into tears. "Oh my God!" Aurora exclaimed, "No. This can't be happening! It can't! Adam, who is he? What's his name?" "Brett Campbell." "Oh my god! This is all my fault." "What? What the hell are you talkinb about!" "I should have said yes!" she started crying," This never would have happened." Adam grabbed her by the shoulders, "What are you talking about?" "I remember now! You were dating my step-sister, Karina! I never met you but she told me so much about you! I knew I had known you from somewhere! He asked me to marry him...right after  you asked her. She said yes. I said no! He keilled her because I said no!" she broke down into tears. "Oh my God! Come here! It's not your fault! Ok?  Even if you had said yes...something would have happened." "He's already after me Adam! When I went to the bar with Steph and Trish...he was there!" "That's why you had those bodyguards! Don't worry, you have tons of friend here. We'l protect you! If he trieds anything he'll have the whole federation on his ass!!" Aurora looked up, "He'll try something. But by the time you find out it'll be too late." "I'm not going to lose you! I don't care if I have to watch you like a hawk! He's not going to lay one finger on you!" out of no where he kissed her. She pulled away, "I have to go!" Getting up and greabbing her bathrobe she walked out the dorr. "Fuck!" Adam yelled, " I really screwed up." he thought.
