The TAKESHI
Pekingese & Shih Tzu
First of all, I would like
to thank my mentors, Mrs. Patricia Smith (Ormalu) &
Mrs. Frances Wickens (Frawai) for educating me on the breed,
helping and guiding me in showing, breeding and grooming
pekes. Also thank Mrs. Ingrid Greatex (Brynach, UK) for
guiding me to get Basil, the sire of my latest champion.
Takeshi Kennels
is situated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We are a home based
kennel that breeds and exhibits in a small scale. Our objective
is to promote and improve our favourite Asian breeds, specifically
Pekingese and Shih Tzu next.
We exhibit and breed from the very best that we can afford.
We do not force any of our dogs who are not willing to go
to the showring. Hence, we have a couple of dogs (bitches)
who are clipped and kept at home, but they are fit for breeding
purposes and may even be better than some of our show dogs.
We treat all our dogs equally whether they are show dogs,
local breds, imports, champions or pets, staying under the
same roof, eating the same quality food etc...

How It Begins
Although my first dog
came to me on 2nd January 1997, not until July 1999 I began
to show my dogs. My kennel prefix TAKESHI was established
in May 1998 when I bred my first litter of Shih Tzu puppies
at that time. For 18 months, I was being "silly" in the
show ring and was a novice in the knowledge of "dog shows"....
and there I was exhibiting my so-called "pets" in the ring.

My First Pekingese
Then I made up my mind
to import my first show quality dog in January 2001, a pekingese
who is now known as BIS Aust Ch, Asian Ch & Mal Grand Champion Ormalu Classified
"Oliver". He did a lots of winnings
for me in year 2001 and 2002. Amongst some of his wins were
a Best In Show (Mrs K Sasa - Japan), a Reserve Best In Show
win (Mr Larry Yuen - Malaysia) as well as numerous Group
placements.
Then, came my
two bitches, Mal Ch Frawai Its Showtime
(Timer), who now proved herself in the whelping box and
Aust & Mal Ch Ormalu In Perfect Fashion
(Thumbelina), who finished as the #1 Pekingese Bitch Year
2001. "Timer" is dam of International Champion
"Crystal".
In May 2002,
we had a bitch imported into Malaysia in-whelp, Ormalu
Hallelujah (Hallie) who produced the largest
litter for me so far (6 puppies, I retained 2 girls). One
of the girls is already crowned as a Malaysian Champion,
she is known as Mal Ch Takeshi's For Your Eyes
Only (Belle). "Belle" has retired from the
ring, and is now mother of two champions, "Romeo"
in Finland and "Kerani" in Malaysia.
Belle's
litter sister, Takeshi's Angel Eyes
(Angel), is an "In Show" award winner, however she doesn't
seems to enjoy the show ring much. Hence, she is retired
to contribute
to my breeding program. She is also dam of two champions,
"Tango" in Indonesia and "Rufus" in
Malaysia.

My Import In 2003
In early 2003, I imported
a new pekingese to strengthen my stocks and to continue
my breeding programme. He is Mal
Grand Ch Ina Ch Thai Int Ch Kotima Wild N Wonderful "Willie"
(DOB - 6 October 2002) who holds the top Puppy record in
Malaysia Year 2003. He completed his championship title
from puppy class, beating adults. From puppyhood, he has
won numerous "In Show" awards, has multiple Best In Group
wins under his belt, RESERVE BEST IN SHOW under Mr. Kinji
Itoi (Japan) and Mr. Lance Heilmann (Australia) at our most
prestigious annually held show, A.K.U. Show 2004. He was
No. 1 Pekingese 2004 and No. 2 Toy Dog 2004.
Year 2005 has been
a greater year for "Willie" as he took BEST IN SHOW All
Breeds in Malaysia under Mr. Edward Pickering (Australia)
on July 17, 2005. He took another Best In Show under Mrs.
Fran Browning-Cristina (South Africa) and Best In Show again
under Mr. Ed Wild (Canada) in October 2005. He was also
Reserve Best In Show under Mr. Alex McQuire (Australia)
(Group Judge was Mrs Eunice Warner - Australia) and Mrs.
Betty Stepkovitch (Australia). Willie finishes year 2005
as RESERVE SHOW DOG OF THE YEAR. (Note: We do not
separate champions and non-champions in Malaysia).
I
thought "Willie" could do a little more beyond Malaysia,
so I brought him to Indonesia and he completed his Indonesian
Championship in just 2 days. He has a Best In Show
(Judge: Mr P Chatterjee - India) and a Reserve Best In Show
(Judge: Mrs. S Monk - Australia) in Indonesia in our two
weekend shows. In Thailand, he was a multiple group placements.
In
2006, "Willie" won Best In Show under Mrs Glenda
Cook (Australia), Reserve Best In Show under Mr Tan Oo Hock
(Malaysia) and few Toy Group wins bringing him to Top Toy
Honour Year 2006 and No. 3 All Breeds Year 2006. He also
gained his International Championship. "Willie"
is now retired to contribute to my breeding program.
In
my breeding program, "Willie" is also a proven sire but
not consistently bred to date. He is the sire to my little
tube-fed survivor, Takeshi
Yours or Mine "Yoga". Also
the sire of Malaysian Champion
Takeshi's If You Will "Iris",
the fastest and one of the youngest Pekingese Champion in
Malaysia. She was multiple Reserve Best of Breed to her
daddy. "Iris" in turn has produced a champion
daughter "Dorothy", Ch Takeshi Dot Com Dot My,
who finishes in 3 straight shows too.

My English Import
Sometime
around September 2003, I imported my a pekingese male from
England, Mal Ch Jonsville Break Every Rule at
Falernian "Basil", who I think and hope could
contribute to my breeding program. He is brought in mainly
for stud purpose and will only be shown sparingly.
At
his first show, 3 months after he arrived, I showed him
under a respected Toy Specialist, Dr. Appiwut Kasemsanta
(Thailand) and he won the Toy Group. He went into the In-Show
ring, and was placed RESERVE BEST IN SHOW under a well respected
judge from NSW, Australia, Mrs. Christina Rafton. To date,
I have only shown him 6 times, and he had won 3 CC and 2
RCC. "Basil" gained his championship with a Group 2 placement
on September 12, 2004 from Mrs. Sheila Verhulst (Canada).
Basil
has sired "Evie", a Best of Breed
winner over the males, multiple Reserve Best of Breed and
Best Puppy In Show winner and "Rufus", completed
and won a Best In Group at 11 months old of age. He was
the No. 1 Pekingese Year 2007 and leading the race again
in 2008. On 28th June 2008, "Rufus" won RESERVE
BEST IN SHOW All Breeds under judge Mr. Partha Chatterjee
(India).
"Evie"
mated to "Connor", has produced "Gizmo",
Indonesian Malaysian Champion Takeshi La Gaillard who won
BEST IN SHOW at 9 months old at one of the largest show
in Asia, CKU FCI International Show in Beijing, China. As
at today, "Gizmo" have 7 Best In Shows and 4 Reserve
Best In Shows under his belt.

Other

bred by Frawai Pekingese of Mrs. Frances Wickens in June 2005. "Connor" is
siring promising puppies for me, including "Gizmo"
a multiple Best In Show winner and his sister, "Audrey".
My
latest import (August 2007) is Phil Ch Dreamville Eragon
from Philippines, bred by Dr. Ray & Christine Lo of
Dreamville Pekingese.

ever in Malaysia's breed history, Utility Dog of the Year

First Shih Tzu Malaysian Grand Champion Fantasia's Wild
Is D' Heart
(Phil) "Rhianna". A multiple Best In Group winner and her
peak was when she won Reserve Best In Show in March 2003.
We couldn't recall any Shih Tzu doing so (winning
Reserve Best In Show) since 1997, and its a bonus
when a bitch is winning over the dogs for this honour.
Then we imported her half brother
Mal Ch Fantasia's Truth or Dare "Billy" (Philippines)
to join us.
Rhianna
was bred to Hearty's Happy Together (Can Th Ina Ch Symarun's
Incredibly Possible x Hearty Coquette) in 2005 and from
there, I have Mal
Ch La Verne Takeshi In Your Heart
(Mated and whelped in Indonesia) "Ruby" to keep my Shih
Tzu showing bloodlines going. "Ruby" has multiple
Best Puppy In Shows wins and completed her title in 3 shows.
Next,
Rhianna's son Mal Ch Takeshi Day After Day "Davis"
gained his championship by winning over imports. Her latest
achievement is another daughter, "Kioko" Mal Ch
Takeshi Kioko Arigamo (IID) completed her title with multiple
"In Show" wins. So, Rhianna produced a champion
in each litter she had.

Our Breedings
My
locally bred bitch Finnish Champion Takeshi's Touch of Class "Crystal", exported to Finland in January 2003, has done
me proud. She has won 8 CCs so far and was crowned on October
3, 2004 and is now a FINNISH CHAMPION. She now
has 5 CACIB and is now Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian &
International Champion.
Her half brother

and loved by Ms. Seija Laamanen (Justlin Pekingese in Finland).
Romeo is now Finnish & Swedish Champion.
Romeo's three
quarter brother, "Tango" Indonesian Champion

GROUP and a BEST PUPPY IN SHOW to date. I do hope he will
have brighter future with his owner, Mr. Agus Riyanto.
