Yes, the Easter egg, though really not much at all.
The Rationale Development of Society According to Underlying Principles.
Created by Patrick Ohm
To fully understand where society leads, a distinctive look at the past must be undertaken, the reasoning for this is quite clear. Society is underpinned by Conventions, which in fact govern the society far better than any other individual trying to enforce their will onto others. This is in fact linked to the intrinsic nature of all beings part of the human race; it is an inseparable part of human nature. This is not to imply the connotations that are a many when discussing the muchly agued upon point; ‘human nature.’ Human nature in short is not as some describe it as a follow on of evolution, the instincts, if you will, carried through genetically from one generation to the other. Even though this point of the genetically transference of intrinsic nature is debatable with the point of learned responses to stimuli, the point is that human nature, used in relation to this topic, is the reasoning behind the choices made by individuals. Now this in itself is a broad topic, as it implies that the choices made by an individual are not in fact there own, but are a sum of all their experiences within a society. This in tern could be turned around to say that the sum of an individuals experience makes that individual, so the choice is in fact their own, even though they use past experience as a reference point. So this human nature, or the rationale behind their individualism, forms a common base and manifests itself to form Conventions, codes and morals, as well as a host of other societal based developments. Even though society is a group of persons that form a community, what makes that society is the conventions and underpinning rules that govern it. These conventions are in term a culmination of thousands of years of development, ever since the first society was formed, whether you believe that was Adam and Eve’s family or in fact the first complex organic molecule in which some say we all hold our very existence too. But this point is irrelevant to the topic, which is that society has developed a complex set of Conventions which govern it which in tern have been in existence since the first society, so the development of society will be dependant on these Conventions. Because these Conventions have been developed on from the very beginning the future will continue to develop on them, so you need to understand these Conventions to be able to look into the future. This brings us back to the topic at hand, a look into the past.
These smatterings of abstract thought are just that, and if you feel that you have entered into a world of tangents and are struggling with the compass and map provided then my suggestion is to run, as fast as possible. Because it doesn’t get any easier, and if you can imagine even more off the topic discussions then you might have an idea of what is to come. This article is in no way objective, and makes no claim to that title. It is a completely subjective view, and realistically would perhaps crumple into dust, as it is in some parts what perhaps we would like to see happen. So it begins, into the past we dare to tread, onwards till the last…
The human race seems bent on commonality, refusing in part to look to the past. Part of the augment lies in the base that human’s nature compels them to build upon an experience level on their own. This is often a destructive path as through solidarity comes only ones own responses to stimuli resulting in learned responses and experiences to look back on. This simple fact is why the human race continues to blunder into obscurity, why it continues to make the same mistakes in a repetitive loop. This is at the foot of theories delving into history and making upon the trends and cycles common too most developing societies. There are trends that can be said to define humanity; the easiest one to see is human’s tendency towards conflict. When looking back upon humanity it is easily seen that it is from one struggle to another in which we partake. Wether it is a fault of humanity or other factors, it is apparent wherever there are people. Conflict has many forms, whether it is dealing with one, or inadvertently causing one. Conflict at its crux is part of human nature, something so close to the phycology of humans that it is no longer an outside result of human actions but has become what it is to be human. This is not to say humans are conflict, but that conflict resides in humans along with morals and the Conventions that are developed by each individual from their experiences. Conflict is only apparent to humans, it is a unique trait, along with abstract thought, that humans posses. This is because conflict requires, usually two parties, and a disagreement in opinions. This is the start of most conflict when looking at the human race, this difference in opinions should be easily resolved by mediators that would be able to come to understand both parties, but along with conflict, arrogance is another trait of humanity. Humans have a pride in their experiences, they belong to them, they are personal and through them there current ways of thinking have been developed. It is difficult for humans to then take up a point of view in opposition to theirs when all their past experiences point to a logical conclusion that is in tern in direct opposition. This attachment to ones owns experiences causes conflict, and then the inadvertent want to make other parties see the same conclusions. When resistance is met conflict ensues because both parties have justification to their own opinions. Then a battle of wills is often contested, to try and make the opposing party see your way, and this is done in whatever way possible. Each individual has boundaries to limit how far they will go to impose their will on others, this can lead to submissiveness, or reluctance in future interaction, each of which aren’t a fault of the individual but of others neglect to see their restraints. This is how people are won over and groups of thought start to form, camps of differing opinion. Here is always a drive to create the largest camp, this is still prevalent in this ‘modern age’ and is a continual failing in especially western civilisations.
This is in essence in what is meant by ‘underlying principles.’ This look into the development of society is of course formed on factual statements, logical sub-impositions that may in some cases generalise humans into patterns of behaviour. This is not what is intended, it is easy to see this implication however, though in every persons lies individuality, a wonderful creation, of chance, or by fate. People are complex; there is no other statement which can more accurately describe what is trying to be depicted. So do not feel as if the whole of humanity is being pressed down into a neatly shaped package. Though trends are always there, assumptions are always prevalent, and in this view a thousand other tangents have the possibility to spring into life. Conflict within humanity is not the only thing which makes them, but it is a cog in the machine which drives society, other elements are needed for it to work, fear, arrogance, assumptions, neglect, emotion, justice, righteousness, good and evil are all elements in society, and are not all there are. To touch on them all is to strive to reach into the infinite, what makes each person of a society is a part of that society, millions of experiences and other elements. In the end however ways of thinking evolve, or are forced down upon others as discussed, these trends in thinking are a grave misgiving, and will lead to ultimate failure.
Conflict is not the only part in what is meant by ‘underlying principles’ there is a lot more to perspective than just the simple trends of the past. What of the present? If conflict is an intrinsic part of humanity then surely it is continuing to be the driving force of humanity. In simple truth it is, one look at the politics, philosophies, ideologies, theologies and economics of each country in existence will show a world not only in conflict, but striving for it. Of course the world has changed much from what has been recorded in the past. The world and the societies within have become more convoluted, more complex than ever before. If there was chaos in the past than what happens in this age is surely madness in comparison. What do people live for? This question, among others, will have to be answered for an accurate look towards were society will lead. Well? One look at the lives lead by modern society shows that people strive to live. It is much the same throughout history, people live for the living, it is as simple as indulging in the existence one has. This thin sheet of truth encompasses the whole of humanity, regardless of race, gender, or geographic locale. If it were not the truth people would simply not be, if they did not wish to live then they would not. This can be seen however, or at least at a glance it seems to be the case. Suicide, is it an exception to the rule? Why do people chose to end there own lives? Is it because they choose to no longer live? Is it as simple as that? No, for as with anything when looking at humanity it is far from simple. People choose to end their lives because of the same reasons that pushes forth the development of society; ‘underlying principles.’ Fear, fatigue, emotion, they are the reasons and associated perspectives formed on these principles of experience. People do not choose to end their lives, but rather choose to end the reason for living. Is that a paradox though, for the reason for living was stated to be life? Indeed life is a paradox, or so it would seem, though people choose to live for life, for the experiences that come with life, for the sensations, for the emotions, for what makes life. So in essence people live because they want to experience life, and people chose to end their life because they do not want to experience life, or at least believe at that time that they do not wish to. So what has this to do with the development of society? This self indulgence in life leads to many things, in some people strive to fill there lives in toil and hardship, others pleasure and sloth. Coupled from what is seen from humanities past it seems a frighting revelation is inevitable; that being that in people is conflict and the want to live, almost opposite ends of the pole unless you look at it in another tangent. This tangent that it is through peoples self indulgence for life, through peoples want for life, that through this want conflict manifests itself, that people live for conflict sounds absurd, though logically it is a fact. Why else would there be conflict? People create conflict, and people chose whether to indulge themselves in it or not. Whether they are manipulated is never the issue, people always have a choice, always, sometimes the choice may seem made up for them, but in the end they chose it. Humanity, it would seem, choses to endure conflict, choses to strive through it, and this want for conflict will not see its end till the last human is no longer. This is not to say that the only thing humanity strives for is conflict, but is one thing that it strives for, and is often unconsciously aware of it.
So as the human phycology slowly comes to light a number of dominant traits seem to come about, conflict being a topic that has been discussed. What other elements might there be that will control the manner in which society develops? Many to be sure, though all factors steam from simple emotions, conflict often from fear, so can it be possible for humans to control these emotions and in tern control their destiny? It comes back to fear, fear is the main emotion on which the human race drives, the motivation for doing something, the response to stimuli, fear of their own thoughts and emotions as well. This has come to pass in the ‘enlightened age’ that can be seen in progress now. The thoughts that humans are the dominant species on the earth lend to arrogance, this is in turn coupled with ignorance and this leads to many failings, mostly because of fear. But why, why does fear come about through arrogance? Arrogance is perhaps the greatest threat to the human race, for it is linked with pride to a point where one cannot see where the two divide. Being proud of ones achievements is in itself not a great threat, but it is what comes from that pride, what manifests from it, that is the worry. Fear can manifest in many ways, it can be a concern of the future, the present or the past, it can be worry over any matter, it can be stress, depression, or a nervous breakdown. All of these factors we all experience, and in this day much more than in any other time. Fear will drive more and more people to sickness; the only cure is medication, which debatably leaves you not the same person you were. Fear comes about from arrogance because arrogance blinds people from the world around them. This inability to see outside their self perception of themselves leaves them unaware of their mistakes, unaware of their health, and unaware of others. This is the ignorance of arrogance, not seeing past what you want to see, and this world is a very fragile view which can be shattered at ease and leaves the individual with the distorted and complex world that is. This shock is fear, and is felt by many. So how will this lead the human race into the future? Being in fear is being constantly drained; this can lead to even more mistakes or failures, simply because people have given up. Hope is the biggest ally of the human race, though it is being replaced with science, with education, with employment, with family, with friends, with recreation, so when peoples world shatter around them they find that they never had any hope, they lose the will to continue. A society which is plagued by constantly trying to give false hope to people is a society that is doomed for reasons explained. Societies today breed hope, sell hope, and it is this creation of hope that will hinder, not aid, society’s development.
