"Quiet down, class. Whitney will now read her story for us. Whitney?"

"'Mrs. Butterbee' by Whitney Blaylock.
Mrs. Butterbee went for a walk.
Mrs. Butterbee had lunch with a friend."

"Whitney, remember to be sure everyone can see your pretty illustrations."

"Okay.
Mrs. Butterbee went home. Mr. Butterbee threw a fit.
Everything fell down from the shelves and cupboards.
The Butterbees just laughed because there was a big mess but no one was hurt.
The end."

"That was well done, Whitney. What can you tell us about the feelings in your story?"

"Well, um..."

"For example, why did Mr. Butterbee throw a fit? Did he feel angry? And why?"

"Oh, yes. He was mad because Mrs. Butterbee had lunch with her friend."

"And why does lunch make Mr. Butterbee angry?"

"Well, her friend was another man."

"I see. Class, let's take out our spelling books and turn to page 42."
