Classical music is playing, and there are scenes of violence on the television. It's an odd combination, yet Lee finds it somewhat fitting.
Not that he is really paying close attention. He's trying very hard to watch the movie. He really is. He just isn't doing a very good job of it. He can't concentrate with this beautiful girl lying across the couch in front of him.
Amber seems to be enjoying herself. She has virtually stopped watching the movie as well. Lee's fingers running through her long red hair is having a relaxing effect on her. She finds herself occasionally closing her eyes and losing herself in the sensation.
Time passes, the move plays on. The credits roll. Lee and Amber have stopped caring. He has slowly lowered himself, now laying parallel to her. She is relaxed to the point of not moving. His arm is getting sore, so he finally gives in and lays flat.
Amber moves to get up, knowing she should be going. His and rises. He begins scratching her head.
"No fair."
He smirks. "I never said I played fair."
She lets out a soft sigh, a halfhearted protest. Her head lowers slowly. Slowly. Slowly, finally coming to rest on his chest.
His heart races. They have been spending time together like this quite frequently over the last couple months. They do flirt a lot, in the way that people do when there is a friendly attraction. Safe. That's what one could call it. They flirt safe.
This is not safe.
The way her head is positioned, he can feel her breath on his neck. His own breath is shallow. He hasn't been in a situation like this in a long time.
She is breathing slowly, relaxed and content.
As they lie together, her head moves closer. Their faces inch toward each other, breathing becoming more erratic. Their lips are mere millimeters from touching
*RING*
"Goddamned phone. Always ringing at the wrong time," Lee grumbles as he rises to answer.
"Fucking stupid telemarketers. My dad isn't here. I don't know when he will be. No, I don't want to talk to you," he rants as he returns moments later.
Amber just laughs, shifting to allow him to retake his position next to her.
Once again, they find themselves close. Much closer than Lee is comfortable with. Closer than Amber is comfortable with. Closer than they have been before.
Fee finally cannot stand it anymore. She is too close, too inviting. Her perfume swims in his head, driving him on. He leans his head forward, allowing his lips to brush hers.
There is no reaction.
His courage bolstered, he tries again. His lips linger against hers. She sighs, opening her mouth slightly.
And they kiss.
It is soft and gentle. Months of pent up feelings and emotions drain into the moment.
They break the seal of the kiss, parting enough to look at each other.
Amber rises. Lee attempts to keep her with him., unwilling to let the moment pass.
No. Please. I have to go. This...was a mistake. It was a momentary lapse in judgment. I let my emotions and impulses take control. I'm sorry. This cannot happen again."
Lee nods silently, afraid that if he opens his mouth she may hear his heart breaking. Amber sadly looks at him, reading the emotions in his eyes. She tries to smile reassuringly as she leaves.
Yes, it was a mistake," Less whispers. "A fortunate mistake."
