Become a better student:     "learn how to teach"

This website was created (and is updated) to help you become a better student of languages and to help you use what you know about languages to teach other people.  I have become a better speaker of English because I need to explain the rules of the language (and the exceptions!) to students from many countries.
     Please send an email to

We hope that you enjoy becoming your own teacher.

TIPS (suggestions) about      teaching yourself

1.  Push yourself.

2.  Look for new words.  Every sign around you is an opportunity.  "What is this sign in English or German?"

3.  Think about the opposite.  If you know "
wide street", what is the opposite?  Always think about a thing with the adjective.  Answer:  A narrow street.

4.  Review irregular verbs with a game.  "Did you
eat a hamburger?"  "Yes, I ate two hamburgers.   Two hamburgers were eaten by me."  "Have you eaten something today?"

5.  Take a newspaper and look at the headlines -- ask, "What words did they leave out?"
Air crash leaves 19 dead. (An airplane crash leaves 19 people dead.)  Also look at captions of photos.  You are more likely to remember a new word if you see a photo with it.

6.  Ask your teacher if you can be the assistant teacher.  You can volunteer to read the instructions and study the answers before the class and you can explain the answers to students.
