Yellowstone National Park

We visited Yellowstone with plans to go from one side to the other in one day. Well, 5 hours and only 12 miles later we realized it just can't be done. There's too much to see and we found ourselves stopping every 30 seconds to take in something spectacular. Oh, well. Maybe next time we'll plan ahead a bit more - like reserve 3 days for all the fantastic sights in this fascinating park.

John at the entrace to Yellowstone - we had ice cream bars - yum!

Old Faithful - and it certainly was. When we arrived at the lodge (picture below), it was scheduled to go off in 5 minutes - and it did!

Mud pots - bubbling madly like a huge vat of chocolate pudding.

Old Faithful Lodge - some special memories, for sure!

Lots of places to pull over and see the colorful vents and mud pots. Too many to list!

If you look really close, you can see the elk. Lots of elk & a few bison but no bear - sorry, John!
