TAKING MEASUREMENTS FOR SUITS
- Back width—At widest part of back, just below armhole
from underarm to center back.
- Back length—Center back seam from base of collar to
bottom of jacket.
- Shoulder—Across shoulder from neckline seam to armhole
seam.
- Underarm sleeve length—At underarm seam from armhole
to bottom of sleeve.
- Sleeve length—From center top of armhole seam to
bottom of sleeve.
- Sleeve circumference at fullest part of sleeve, 1”
below armhole at underarm
- Sleeve circumference at wrist.
- Front width—At widest part of chest, from just below
armhole to center front (buttons).
- Hips—At greatest width in lower part of jacket from
center front to center back.
- Pocket height—From pocket top to jacket bottom.
MEASURING FOR PANTS
- Waistband—Measure it closed.
- Hips—At fullest part of pants. Note how far down this
is from waist.
- Width at knees—Circumference of pants legs at a point
about halfway down the inner leg seam.
- Width of leg bottom—Circumference of leg at hem.
- Length of center back seam—From top of waistband to
inner leg seam.
- Length of center from seam—From top of waistband to
inner leg seam.
- Inner leg seam—From the juncture of inner leg seam and
crotch seams to bottom of pants leg.
- Side length—From top of waistband to bottom of pants
leg.
- Length of crotch—Subtract the inner leg seam
measurement from the side length measurement.
