Here is a marvelous view in what is now Kings Canyon National Park. I have camped and hiked here many times, it is a spectacular area with granite walls 5000 feet high and this beautiful river! Originally named "El Rio de los Santos Reyes" by Spanish explorers in 1805, it is now simply the Kings River. The walls were carved by glacial action eons ago. This view was painted by Albert Bierstadt(1830-1902), who painted many scenes throughout the Sierra Nevada. |
