Here is a very famous painting by Albert Bierstadt done in 1866. The view seen here is from the north bank of the Merced River, the background pictures Sentinel Rock, Royal Arches, and Washington Column. I've both seen the original painting, and, stood in the place it was painted from. Alas, pastoral views such as this are rare today, as huge numbers of tourists flock to the Yosemite Valley each year! |
