All About Me
I was born on a beautiful May morning in 1977 at St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal. Being born on the 8th of May made me a Taurus. Therefore, according to my mother, it has made me bull headed and stubborn, but I like to think that it has made me strong willed and ambitious.
At the tender age of one, my parents moved my sister and I from a small apartment in Cartierville to a house Pierrefonds, where I spent the next 22 years of my life. My childhood was a very happy one, filled with summers spent at the local pool, school days spent with my best friends and home life spent with my younger brother doing everything in our power to annoy my older sister. My brother and I spent many hours together as children playing outside in the school yard next to my house, riding our bikes around and playing baseball. Unfortunately, my sister, who is four years older than me, and I never really got along until she moved away from home when she was 22. She decided to move to Calgary in 1996 and now resides in Columbia, Missouri with her husband and step-daughter. The distance over the last six years has made us get along better, as the time spent apart eliminates our petty fights. In our cases, the distance does make our hearts grow fonder.
My parents have been married for twenty-seven years and they still live in the same house bought when I was one. Although they've never moved, they spend a lot of their time traveling; Calgary, Los Angeles. Las Vegas, Texas, Missouri, Calgary, PEI, Nova Scotia, and Tennessee are just a few places they have been too. Growing up my parents were actively involved in the Guiding and Scouting movement and passed along the love of them to their children. Over the past twenty years they have volunteered their time to the youth of our community and over the passed ten years, so has my sister, my brother and myself.
I had many interests growing up. I played softball for 12 years, was a member of both Girl Guides of Canada and Scouts Canada, I lifeguarded and taught swimming lessons for 8 years and joined many committees in all the schools I attended. The one true passion in my life however, and it has been since I was little, is musical theater. Although I never joined any theater company myself, my best friend belonged to a group called Kids In Action and through her I fell in love with the theater. I have seen over fifty performances and I never get sick of listening to my favorite musicals over and over again.
Although my life has been a
happy and safe one, the last year has been a challenge. Coming into my
last year of university I suddenly realized my worst fear...I was going
to have to grow up! I took the first plunge last December when I moved
out of my parents house. I now live in Dorval, in a cozy apartment with
my boyfriend Stephen. Even though I moved out, I am still close enough
to go over to parents for suppers and to do the laundry. I am not sure
what I am going to be doing come September of this year, but I am taking
this grown up thing one step at a time!
