' The Ivan Kalita Bowl', Moscow,1899-1908,decorated in the 'Old Russian style, the swollen rib- rimmed barrel raised on four basket feet, one side imposingly modelled with a becrowned ancient whose beard cascades into the void. Maker's mark below the Imperial warrant, inventory number: 21310, height 16 cm. The bowl was delivered the auction 'Sothby' in 1999. |
