Chitter Chatters

"Tis always morning somewhere in the World"

(R.H. Horne)

That quotation couldn't be truer as far as chatting to people on the WWW now could it?

However, all what it seems is never or at least often not quite what it should be in the chatting world or words to that effect.

So here are a few Words of Advice

For one think just ask yourself that great looking woman in the posted pic is that

1) a recent pic?

2) her at all ?

3) or is it a bloke? quite - don't beleive me .. you cynic you.

My own philosophy is ,behave in a chat room rather like you would in a pub or nightclub or other meeting place. You wouldn't give your home phone number to someone you had just met five minutes ago now would you? If you would you're a lost cause. So don't give out your e-mail unless your really happy that this person is not a psycho, is not gonna cause you hassles in 2 weeks time. Better still get yourself a freebie net addy from one of the following, so don a hat and shades and do it icognito:

HOTMAIL

YAHOO

or one of the many others - give yourself a little anonymity until you are really sure. Bearing this in mind just go and chat have fun and try not to get addicted, of course I'm not addicted no chance of that, I am a well balanced normal type person just like you.

My favourite chatting place has got to be:-

Webchat Broadcasting System

Rooms I most often frequent are British, Australian and The Inn of the Weary Traveller when I fancy a bit of dressing up and role playing. The great thing about WBS is that you don't need to download any programs, but it is a little slower and pics are welcome in most rooms 'cept for the role playing ones which have special rules, best to read them before venturing in!

Here are a few of the chatters - nicknames only you understand, to protest the innocent of course
"nudge nudge wink wink.. say no more!"

Firstly my closest Cyber Fiends

With a little quote just for them underneath their handles, which I hope they will both appreciate and understand.

GNUTOO
'The follies which a man regrets most in his life are those which he didn't commit when he had the opportunity'

ah I remember it well the first time I nervously ventured into Brit chat. First of all I thought he was some sorta pervert, (in fact after 2 years I am still not sure if first impressions are correct or not) only joking.... the gnu wandered over and said ello, he always seemed to be online, I was more booted than there. It was a friendly place to be. I found out he was an "oil man" .. well he does something with rocks and stuff. Also found out we grew up in adjoining counties , well fancy that..
Oh he's a great Pink Floyd fan.. so he must be alright hey?
Fondly known by some as jungle boy he has recently moved to the good ole U S of A. I have some pics of him but to protect the innocent.. namely HIM .. I shall not post them here. Instead here is the friendly gnutoo as we know him best.. oh gamboler of the plains. or is that gambler on planes, grumbler with pains. Havn't found out if he migrates in spring yet.
ha like I said protecting the innocent one!

DEE3

'Man was born free and everywhere he is in chains'

Another frequenter of Brit chat. I can't recall when we first met. But I do know what brought about our friendship. The coven ; Dee and me, Maria and famio . We had an amusing time concoting outrageous pretend spells to get our revenge on the males. As far as I am aware none of them actually worked.. but then those victims could already have been frogs and toads couldn't they?
Also from the USA and partial to plaid shirts and digging in the garden in wet weather, Dee is blessed with a razor sharp wit which I am dead envious of. She is not only one of the most amusing people I know she has tremendous empathy, humility and an unshaking certainty of what is right and what is bloody well dead wrong. A woman of strong views for certain, but never to busy for a kind or encouraging word... now isn't that a song?

Symbolic methinks.. I am counting on her sense of humour here you understand?

BUCHANEER

'It is such a secret place , the land of tears'

Before you all cry "but it is spelt wrong".. I know apparently the other one i.e. the correct spelling with cc was already taken., or so he professes - I reckon it is a defiencies in spelling myself but then who needs to spell when one is a scientist -- well nearly. A fine Victorian, which means he hails from the antipodes. He was a regular in Brit but now never spotted within its walls but then he is doing a Phd ... doing things with fluid dynamics I think - all greek to me squire.- wouldn't you say all a bit Deimus really.

I like to think he is working but he probably isn't!

The Other places to natter

Well there is always IRC. The good thing is it is quick. I have to confess to having become addicted .. sad but true If you feel you want to give it a go you can get Mirc at:

Internet Relay Chat

Of course everyone has got ICQ ....apparently. It is a very useful program which allows you to send quick messages to friends both on and off line and to have real time chat sessions and it also supports a number of other programs ... It is fun and um free!

Get it at:

ICQ keep in touch

Yahoo chat isn't bad, same as IRC just use Yahoos own program, I find it rather annoying with lag and then the chat whizzes past, nice to chill out and dip in sometimes find it at:

Yahoo to you!

If the worst comes to the worst and you don't find anything to your liking do something different try a search and go and join some of the more colourful chat sites, they are plentiful and diverse.

What I found the other day and what better way to while away a few hours and I am even managing to convince myself it is educational is Uproar - lots of games a bit of chat and the chance to win things..give it a whirl girl - or boy:

Have an Uproariously funtime
