You should now be comfortable with the idea of T.A.M.C.S., taking into consideration you have read the introduction and decided to read on. Declaring war is one of the most primary pieces to the T.A.M.C.S. system because without it there will be no fighting. Another kingdom or empire cannot invade the other without an expressed and written agreement between the two. Through the rest of this document I will do as the ancients did and refer to two fictional kingdoms. There will be the Kingdom of John and the Kingdom of Doe.
The Kingdom of John wants to declare war on the Kingdom of Doe. He must therefore make out a Declaration of War which is to be signed by first the general leaders (King & Queen) and then the High Council (if one is present or apart of that decision making) below. The Declaration of War must then be sent straight to the enemy for them to read over and sign. Please take special note though, the one thing that is mandatory in all Declarations of War using the T.A.M.C.S. system is that somewhere within the document it has a link to this website and a request to use this system. Otherwise the enemy will be free to choose a method of combat that they prefer. Some things you might want to take into consideration with a Declaration of War are...
¤ What system of combat are you going to use? T.A.M.C.S. is recommended!
¤ What do you want if you are victorious and what will you offer the other side if they are victorious?
¤ What of the treatment of prisoners? Will they be killed, sold as slaves, made into citizens or traded for other prisoners?
¤ The size of your army. It is important to not only have a value for your NPC military but as well for your player character military. Player characters are the ones who decide the outcome of your battle.
The other side has the option to reject the Declaration of War but this is not recommended. If you are a known user of the T.A.M.C.S. system and reject a declaration of war, you will end up forfeiting your kingdom by surrender. This will be publicized on the website and the other side will be declared the winner. Your members will be informed of your loss due to surrender.
What you may do is ask for a settlement. A settlement is an offer of land, surrender to Governorship or a bribe of currency. An offer of land can be any amount that the King/Queen/Emperor/etc. so chooses on the side that is having war declared against them. That means that if the Kingdom of John declared war on the Kingdom of Doe, Doe may choose what amount and where to give them. To give less than half of all land will allow the Kingdom of John to reject it and still go to war. If Doe offers half of all land then the Kingdom of John must accept this and go on their way.
Surrender to Governorship is where if the Kingdom of Doe wanted to settle they could offer this. Surrendering to Governorship means that the King of Doe will remain in power but as a Governor of his own lands under the power of the Kingdom of John. John will have all the say he wants over the Kingdom of Doe.
A bribe of currency is where an offer is made in currency, jewels, gold or anything for that matter that will hopefully get the other kingdom to back off. This may not always work and the declaring kingdom can still declare war even after payment.
