A Hymn of Praise to 
St. George the martyr
1- Hail to you
The Lord Jesus chose you your name reached all
districts
2- You came forward O chosen one to Diocletian
You put the shame all the impious with the sign of the Cross
3- Diocletian looked at you your face filled with
grace
Beautiful in character shining like a star
4- He said to you “O chosen one where are you from?
I have been here three years I have not seen one like you.
5- What do you need from me that you came today?
Come forward and tell me from where you came?
6- From the sake of Jesus your Lord tell me O man
About your father and grandfather was he a ruler or a king?
7- St. George answered saying “I am the son of Anastasius
And I am a servant of my Lord Jesus Christ.”

There we were brought up and there we dwell
9- Diocletian said to him “Come forward worship
the idols
And offer to them incense and I will issue a decree
for you
10- St. George replied “I am noble origin
How do you command me O wicked to worship the idols?”
11- Diocletian ordered to torment the saint
The soldiers stripped him naked and beat him with iron nails
12- Seven whole years he suffered many torments
He endured every hardship for the love of the Lord of
Lords
13- Three times he died for the sake of His Holy name
For the sake of the love of the Lord of hosts the giver of life
14- The fourth time he went with rejoicing
And received the martyrdom and seven crowns
15- He won grace from
the Holy God
And took the crown of martyrdom my lord the
16- Hail to the hero the leader of the horse soldiers
For because of you the idol
worshippers were ashamed
17- Hail to the saint the son of Anastasius
The pure body the servant of Jesus Christ
18- The Exposition of your name is in the months of the believers
