Chicago
JS '99
It's a long, long way to
Chicago,
You'd best be going before
you miss your train.
I know that you'll write
me once you've settled down,
But Chicago's so far, I
hope you don't forget my name.
Well last night I dreamed
of you and old Chicago,
Of all the people who hurry
with such haste.
And I hope that someone
stops and says 'hello' to you,
I know I would, I'd
do it everyday.
Must be plenty of things
to do in Chicago,
The type of things you
just can't do 'round here.
And I bet that you're anxious
to go do them all,
It's so nice to see you
happier.
I bet the lights shine
bright; downtown Chicago,
With all the shoppers on
the boulevard.
And if you could (that
is I've never been there myself),
Take a photograph and send
it with a card.
On the way here I picked
this book up 'bout Chicago,
I thought you'd like to
have it for your ride.
Now I know it's not
that special but I scribbled on the front,
'To Sarah, Hope this keeps
you occupied.'
Well I know you'll
make your way in old Chicago,
I'm sure you'll have no
troubles a'tall.
And should the night be
lonely and you want to talk,
You can call me, 'cause
I'll be lonely as well.
That train it pulled away
bound for Chicago,
And though I couldn't see
her I still waved.
It was the walk home alone
that most puzzled me,
'Cause with Sarah, she
would always lead the way.
I can't stand to hear that
city name; Chicago,
And I know that it might
make some people cry.
Why a pretty girl like
that would pick that city over me,
Someone who wasn't just
a friend to her last night.
Yeah I can't stand to hear
that city name; Chicago,
And I know that it
might make some people cry.
Why a pretty girl like
that would pick that city over me,
Someone who wasn't just
a friend to her last night.
So how was it? Ok? Really bad? Drop me an email
