Closing Down Paradise
J.S.
She took all of my love, wrapped it up nice,
And sold it to you my friend for a good
price.
She just needs someone to hold her through
those long lonely nights.
She's in L.A. now, but me, I'm closing down
paradise.
She had her dreams just like everyone, but
her dreams made her feel,
That this place wasn't helping her, this
place wasn't real.
So she packed up all she owned, and what
she could steal.
She's in L.A. now, but me, I'm closing down
paradise.
She always said that our love would work
out,
She had no questions, no worries, no doubt.
I never realized, I just found out.
She's in L.A. now, but me, I'm closing down
paradise.
And as I recall, she never liked it here
at all.
She never liked the cracklin' fires, she
had only one desire.
But when the evening came we'd talk, while
holding hands we'd laugh and walk.
And I'd wait for her to say, "Don't
let me leave, I want to stay."
She never mentioned a time she would leave,
Someone must of taken her, and some nights
I believe,
That she's not as happy now, as she was
with me.
She's in L.A. now, but me, I'm closing down
paradise.
And as I recall, she never liked it here
at all.
She never liked the cracklin' fires, she
had only one desire.
But when the evening came we'd talk, while
holding hands we'd laugh and walk.
And I'd wait for her to say, "Don't
let me leave, I want to stay."
Now everything's gone, all the pictures
are down,
And moved somewhere else, to some small
place downtown.
And I leave the door open, as I walk across
the lawn.
She's in L.A. still, but me, I've just closed
down paradise.
