Bhattaraka Charukirti is the representative of an ancient line of pontiffs administering the pilgrimage centre. His untiring efforts have drawn adherents of the faith from all over world to this centre. He has been the guiding spirit in the renovation of the temples, beautification of the mounuments and the orchestration of the mastabhisheka festivals. He has developed Shravana Belagoa into a modern day learning center by establishing a polytechnic and an engineering college apart from traditional training school on scriptures.
