Madhavan. He is the most desired hero of Tamil girls all over the world. With 'Run' turning out to be a confirmed hit, he is now busy working on 'Anbe Sivam' with Kamalhasan. Following is the reproduction of an interview Madhavan had given to a film manazine about his latest film with Kamalhasan.  

Tell us about 'Anbe Sivam'?
       I can't forget the 4 hours that I'd spend in Kamal's company during the story discussion. The first 3 hours we were talking about everything other than cinema. During our afternoon lunch together, Kamal began talking about himself. That was when I really came to know about the person he was. The, we began discussing the film. The story was very good. I told Kamal that I was ready to act whichever may the story demanded.

I wanted to perform exactly the way Kamal recited the story. I asked him to teach me. I can't forget the way he explained my scenes to me. I intend to act the way he taught to me. This really is a fabulous film.

Looks like you've an intensely emotioned person
       Yes. They were looking for someone who could bring in the emotions. That's why he said he selected me. I couldn't ask for a greater compliment. Some people like their lives the way the world wants them to. Some people, on the other hand, make the workd bow at their feet. People of the latter kind, like Kamal, were the ones who made the world progress.

I saw his 'Pammal K.Sambhandham', I liked that song. I loved the well-timed comedy. My whole family is his fan.

Did your parents meet Kamal?
       Once, while I was having dinner with my parents, I saw Kamal. He came to us and spoke to them. Turns out, for the next six weeks, my parents only spoke about that chanced meeting. In that meeting alone, I learnt so much from Kamal on how to vibe with your fans. Kamal was so down-to-earth when he spoke to my parents. Now that I'm acting with him, I should be able to learn a lot more. He has the potentials to be a great leader.

What do the audience gain with the union of Kamal & Madhavan?
       Your question only makes us want to be more cautious. Looks like this combination is crating lot of expectations. Kamal has been acting like a One-man army in all his recent films. He hasn't acted with another leading hero in recent times. Because, he didn't have to. Do you know that if Kamal & Rajini work together in a film, it would be a flop? Ths is because both have 2 distinctly strong images. The fan clubs of both these stars will fight till the end.

Did you know that fans of other heroes were planning to smash A.R.Rehman's car because they thought that be composed better music for Rajini's & Kamal's films alone? And that Ramya Krishnan was given police protection for a few days after the release of 'Padayappa' because Rajini's fans thought that she had insulted Rajini by poiting her foot at his face? Hey, I think I need to be careful while working with Kamal.

Won't you acquire an image then?
      No! No! I wont do films just to show my versatility. That's the wrong way to do films. Some stories are meant to be performed only be some actors. Take 'Kannathil Muthamittal' for example. Had this film been a success, it would have changed the fate of Tamil industry. We could have got rid of lot of junk. But, the film did well only in the city.
