Do all of these four religions have their own beliefs of what will happen when they die? Do all these religions have a special festival as a special time of the year? ISLAM The meaning of Islam is to believe in Allah, His Messengers, His Angels, His Books and in the Day of Judgement. Muslims believe that there is no God but Allah, and it is Him alone they worship. There is a reason for their birth. There is a reason why they are sent down to earth. There is a purpose to their lives. According to Islamic beliefs, they have been sent down to earth to complete a mission. Muslims have been sent to earth to worship Allah, and follow his commandments throughout their lives. The Quran has been sent to the Muslims as a key to carry out a successful life. Islam is based on five pillars: 1- The testimony of faith 2- Salah (prayer) 3- Zakat ( Giving of wealth to the poor) 4- Siyam ( Fasting in the month of Ramadhan) 5- Hajj ( Going to pilligremage ) After death, the Muslims will be brought back to life. This day is reffered to as the Day of Judgement. When the Muslims will be called out from their graves , they will be running around like moths around light. On this day Muslims will be judged according to what they did during their life on earth. They will asked about their deeds and the sins they have done. Those who have followed the commandments of Allah and have fulfilled the five commandments will spend the rest of their lives in Heaven. Those Muslims who have obeyed some rules, will have to suffer the punishment but at one point they too will enter heaven. Hell is going to be hot as having the whole sun on top of your head. Some people will be in hell for about one billion years depending on his/her sins, but after all their punishment they will go take a swim in a big river and then will make his/her way to Heaven. In hell no matter how much you are tortured you will never die. In hell the type of food people would have to eat are lizards, snakes, ect. If zakat is not payed, women's jewlery for example would be burned in the hell fire and will have to wear it. Those who listen to music, hot, burning lava will be poured down their ears. There are many others, but these were just a few to name. In heaven, the Muslims will be provided with anything , at anytime they need. The great muslims will be accompanied by the great messengers of Allah. There will be much more for them to discover and enjoy. Eid Eid is a special day for muslims. It happens twice a year. The first Eid of the year is marked by the end of Ramadhan. It's purpose is to celebrate the success of fasting during the thirt days of fasting. The second Eid on the other hand is an event of sacrifice. It is the killing of an animal, like goat, cow, etc. It follows a story in the past. The first thing that must be done on Eid is the performance of Eid prayer preferably at a mosque. On that day muslims wear new clothing and do a lot of fun stuff. They go visit their family friends and prey. The children also get money from the adults. Muslims also make special treats for the whole family. CHRISTIANITY Christians believe that good people die young and childless. Many good people suffer in poverty and with disease. Many evil people lead rewarding, rich, and long lives. Many Christians believe that when a person dies, they enter into a state of non-existence. They remain unconscious, and they have no self-awareness. Their body decays. At the time of the second coming of Jesus, the dead are called from their graves, and they will be judged. Those who had been saved while on earth will be given special bodies and will be sent to Heaven, and the unsaved will go to Hell for punishment. The Christians believe that they will either be sent to Heaven to Hell based on the following things: 1- Their beliefs at the instant of their death. 2- Their behavior during their entire lifetime. 3- The presence of any unforgiven sins committed before death. 4- Church sacraments and rituals that have been performed prior and even after death. 5- Some combination of the above. Christians believe in events that will happen after death: 1- Many people experience painful punishment so that they are purified before they can enter heaven. 2- All Christians will go to Heaven, where as in all those who are non-Christian will go to Hell. 3- They believe that Hell is not torture chamber. 4- After people die, life does not continue in any form. Nothing is left of the person who once lived, other than memories of their life. 5-They believe that they just don't know what happens after death. Christmas Christmas is a special event for all Christians. On that day they get presents and spend time with their families. They buy a christmas tree and decorate it. They also make some good treats. The purpose of celebrating this event is to celebrate the bith of Jesus. The event is started mainly 12 days before that actual day. HINDUISM Similar but Different beliefs amongst the people about the Hindu religion. There are some Hindus who believe that those who do good deeds go to the moon in the form of smoke, then pass into the world of the fathers, and then return to earth as food where they are eaten, turned into semen and are reborn in better conditions. People who have not led good lives are reborn in a worse condition. Hindus don't just belive in just one hell and heaven, they belive there are a bunch of heaven and hell. They belive that some gods are controling hell and some controling heaven. Second Similar Belief Hindus don't just belive in just one hell and heaven, they belive there are a bunch of heaven and hell. They belive that some gods are controling hell and some controling heaven. Hindus believe that whether they have done bad or good on earth, they will be punished or be rewarded for it in the here after. After surving their punishments for their sins, and gaining their rewards for doing good deeds, the Hindus believe in a return back to earth. Most religions of the world believe that the afterlife will take place in another world, that is different from the one we are living today. Unlike those other religions, the Hindus belive that after a person dies and goes in the life after death his soul will come back to earth with some memmories. Which means that their souls will be put into a new body, and will be sent back to the earth. Although it hasn't been made clear, I think that the hindu's believe that their souls, if not their bodies, will never come to an end. They believe that their souls will be continously sent back and forth to the earth, and in a different body each time. I have mentioned before that the Hindus carry out some memmories with them in their re-birth, so then I have a question. Do the Hindus of today have the memmories of their past life? If I were to ask for their past life experiences, would they be able to answer my question? Diwali Diwali is a special holiday for Hindus. On that day they do Puja to Lakshmi. Lakshmi is their god, and Puja is worship. They love and serve god with devetion, and most importantly be happy. It is the most important Hindu festival of the year. BUDDHAISM Buddhists belive that if they do good Karma they can make their way to heaven, Karma can be definied as rewards or punishments. You can create good Karma by treating others with kindness and respect. Bad Karma is when you are mean and evil on earth. That way you can't enter heaven. The Buddhists’ goal is to eliminate both the death and rebirth cycle and entering into Heaven. They believe that there are eight hot and cold Hells. Each of these Hells has a purpose that is related to different kind of suffering. Vesak Vesak is celebrated by Buddhists. Vesak is celebrated when there is a full moon in May. The local temple would be decorated with flowers and lights. In the morning and afternoon there some families would gather up for a meal, and in the evening there would be a gathering in the temple with chanting by the Sangha and a talk, reflecting on the life of the Buddha. |
