Walking back home from school one afternoon in late spring, Sara parts from her friends and takes a walk through the park nearby to shortcut home. It’s a pleasant walk, and she's always enjoyed taking it. The cool spring air blowing against her face as she strode down the street made her smile a bit, reminding her of times when days were simpler, and life was innocent. Glancing upwards, Sara suddenly notices something out of the corner of her eyes...
Standing at the entrance to the park Sara sees hovering high in the sky above all the houses and buildings, a strange white light. Floating silently in the breeze like a glowing vortex from a sci-fi movie, Sara might have called to someone for help, or even gone closer to see just what it was, but it was too late. Suddenly the very world around her erupted in a brilliant flash of light, consuming everything. Pain seared through her entire body, like fire ripping down through her skin and into her flesh...
Then all was dark...
