.: Caelestis :.
Name: Caelestis
Gender: Hermaphrodite
Rank: Queen/Duke
Element: Celestial
ID: God/dess2
Parentage: Wild
Age: Unknown
Notes: Caelestis is both male and female being both a Duke and a Queen. She is one of the five Xerin gods, and one of the more powerful ones at that. Caelestis is the one who created all good in the world of the Xerins. She has two pairs of wings, one light and one dark, which become even larger in flight. The jewel in her head was forced there many many years ago by the god Xarido, believing it would slow the goddess down. However, the attempt failed terribly. The gem now glows a light blue-black color, and it is said that when she gets angered the gem will glow pure black and give her even more strength then normal. Also many believe that she was the one that placed the stars in the cold world for the sparkles she gained on her wings, legs, and back, even though this isn't true. Also those who believe in gods believe that this god/dess was the reason why neuters were created. She is both male and female, which gives her the advantage of being able to reproduce with either gender. However, the chances of someone knowing that they have bred with the god/dess is very slim, for she can change her appearance just like any other god/dess can. The only way a Xerin can tell is that after birth the cubs have a faint glow around them, which slowly fades as they reach adulthood; though their markings tend to match those of the god/dess.

.: Light is infinite, but Justice is not always that which is best... :.
Caelestis, though technically an "it," prefers to be referred to as female. She feels that she has more in common with the "gentler" sex. She is the Celestial Goddess of the Xerins -- the ultimate force of Good in the world. Her justice is always balanced and fair, though she rarely intervenes with mortal lives. Power is a curious thing -- using it too often, even if that use brings more Good into the world, can cause the eventual downfall of all that it stands for. By forcing Xerins to muddle through their problems on their own, she both nurtures and strengthens the flickering, sputtering fires of their souls.

A caterpillar, sated with food and nearing maturity, pauses on a branch to weave its cocoon, so that one day it might emerge as a graceful butterfly. It stays in that protection, developing and growing behind the woven silks. Finally, when it is ready, it pokes a small hole in that comforting barrier, letting in the air of the outside world. Then begins a frantic struggle as the butterfly tries to break free from the place of its nurture. How easy it is, during those moments, to reach out and peel away the cocoon, releasing the soul inside and sparing it that horrific struggle of emergence. But to do that would steal away its life, for upon its release, the butterfly would not be strong enough to survive. The struggle is what gives it strength... deprive it of that experience, that growth, and you deprive it of life.

Caelestis can simply stand by, and watch; offering the occasional encouraging word, as it may, and only interfering when events are most dire. To do anything else might bring the death of the world... the death of Light, and the age of Darkness.

Because in the end, the butterfly that emerges is most beautiful...
