Akwanza are rather rare over there, and they are slightly revered by the people who live there. When he was young he was given a small tattoo under his eye, because the people of a nearby village were very nice to him and his family, and saw their Clan as the village gaurdian, and so tattooed them all with Adinkra Symbols. The symbol that was tattooed on him is called Dwennimmen or "Ram's Horns" and it symbolizes humility and strength. He really hasn't suffered any hardship, but he did leave Ghana at one point because it was his time to find his own Clan, in his mind.
