.: Scenario One :. |
Hyde's trainer found him a pet, some kind of small mammal, and gave it to him with instructions to ‘play nice and have fun.’ Silly trainer. Now he's all alone with the fuzzy little creature and debating what to do with it. I recommend that you describe both the actions and thought process for full credit. This is all you.
--------
The cold, white sun filtered through the silver-edged clouds, shining down on the young Iern below. Hyde paced slowly back and forth beneath its icy glare, his claws scattering the grey-white pebbles that lined the shore of the lake. The water was just starting to freeze, a thin layer of cellophane-like ice betraying the first touches of winter. Beneath his malevolent gaze, a small rabbit trembled, its snowy fur blending in with the ground.
“Play nice.” That was what his trainer had told him. “You need to learn some tolerance. There’s too much of a temper in you.” Ha. He’d show her temper. He snarled at the shivering creature, and it shifted uneasily beneath his gaze. His upper lip curled up into a sick, sadistic smile. It was helpless – unable to run away, tied by the hind foot to a jagged, black-specked lump of rock.
Hyde longed to lunge at it, rip out its entrails, feel their warm, sweet embrace on his jaws. He would have liked nothing more than to smite its tiny, brainless head from its shoulders and leave it for the birds to pick at – three scrawny black ravens who were circling overhead, screaming in their raspy, ill-omened voices. But something inside him fought desperately for control, and try as he might to commit the cruel deed, he always stopped himself before making the fatal lunge.
The jagged stone that the rabbit was tied to shifted a bit beneath the beast’s incessant pulling, and it squirmed a few inches further on its leash, as far away from Hyde as possible. The evil Iern grinned again, that disconcerting smile of his that could send shivers up a full-grown man’s spine. Even a dumb beast as small as this one felt it, that strange deformity of the soul that Hyde possessed, a quality that somehow made everyone who encountered him experience a feeling of extreme revulsion.
He felt no sympathy for the foolish creature’s discomfort. He could care less. There were far better things to do today, and he would rather rip the creature in two and get on with his life. Ah, life. What pleasure there was in it! His nostrils dilated as he inhaled the crisp winter air, and his steps were light upon the ground. This was a creature who felt no remorse, was haunted by no deed, had not a single burden on his conscience. He was strong and capable, nothing was impossible to him. With another of his sinister smiles he turned towards the cowering beast, opening muscled jaws to reveal a row of serrated, pearl-white fangs.
He lunged forward…and stopped. His eyes darkened and smoldered as he fought with himself, an internal battle of wills. “No.” He whispered. “I cannot. If I kill it…if I kill it…” He snarled, but jerked his head to the side, the rest of his body following, until he once more paced along the now well-worn track on the lakeshore.
The creature continued its trembling, although now with greater vigor. He glared at it, and it let out a terrified squeal, scrambling over itself, pulling the leash tight. Hyde stared at the sky, wishing for his trainer to come back. When she came back, she would take this troublesome creature off of his hands and he could go find something wild, a mouse maybe, and rip it to shreds the same way he wanted to destroy this rabbit.
How long had it been? An hour maybe? She should be back soon…soon. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, impatient. He took a step towards the rabbit. It quivered, starting to hyperventilate. Oh Hell, why wasn’t she here? She said she would be here! Why hasn’t she come back yet? His impatience grew, and he snarled, making the poor beast shake even harder and squeal, a high-pitched shrieking, as it struggled against the leash that held it’s hind foot fast to the rock. Hyde snarled again, the thing was so stupid! He would kill it, kill it now! With a scream, he lunged forward, fanged jaws tearing into the yielding flesh. The creature shrieked, ghastly sounds of a desperate creature fighting for life. It sank its own incisors deep into the Iern’s muzzle, which only served to infuriate him more. He slashed at it, claws spread wide, snarling with rage and pleasure as its blood splashed out, cough-syrup-red on the clear grey gravel. He tore at it long after it was dead, and the birds flew hastily off at the sounds of tearing flesh and rending bone.
Finally sated, Hyde turned, and, as if in a cloud, walked off into the forest. He could care less about what Rachael would think when she found the soft rabbit’s mangled corpse on the shore, its blood already clotting into dark crimson clumps. He wandered through the silver forest in a sadist’s high, his steps light. He was already wishing for more killing, plotting his next victim’s demise with relish. But as he walked, the heady passion of the moment began to wear off. He found no more small, squirming prey to renew his high – all had fled before his warped, ruptured soul and tangible evil. He slowly became aware a of small, weak voice among all the thoughts of death and blood. What have I done? It asked, pleading, as if asking God himself to undo the deed. Why am I like this?
With a snarl, the body of Hyde writhed with pain, shaking its head and clawing at the earth as if desperately trying to cleanse itself of the blood clinging there. No. No…he had not killed, he was not a killer…with a cry of rage, he smote the leaves off of the closest branch, then turned and raced off into the wood, shrieking as he went. No…no…no…
Eventually he calmed, slowed, and finally stopped, his back quivering. He blinked a few times, his eyes clouded. Then, as if a switch had been flipped somewhere inside the convoluted twists of his mind, he was suddenly Hyde again, swaggering with arrogance as he walked. Food, yes, he was hungry. He would get himself a little snack, and take a nap. He was tired too. Then maybe he could find something else to kill…pleasure shaped his every move as he sauntered off into the trees to get a bite to eat.

Explanation: In this scenario, I attempted to draw a parallel to the murder scene in the book, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, where Hyde grew impatient while talking to a gentleman and beat him to death with his cane. I also touched on a few themes and main character traits (without even realizing I was doing it until I read it over). When Hyde is fully in control, for example, he swears on Hell: “Oh, Hell, why wasn’t she here?” However, when Hyde is “possessed” by the strange force inside him (Jekyll) he refers to God instead: “…as if asking God himself to undo the deed.” Also, Hyde is completely unperturbed by his crime, even able to think of food immediately after the killing. His sociopathic personality and manic temper are highlighted in this scenario.

.: Scenario Two :. |
A young Hyde watches several female Iern across a room, in a social gathering of sorts being held by the Warren. There can be anywhere from three to five in the group, and one in particular stands out to him. Write an internal monologue describing what he thinks of this scene, interspersed with pieces of what’s happening while he thinks. He is not to leave his spot by the far wall or interact with anyone in this post. This is all you.
--------
Hyde leaned against the wall, licking his lips slowly as he watched the three femmes converse at the other side of the room. He smiled, a slow, unnerving smirk, and picked slowly at the crimson string wallpaper with one claw. The heavy décor matched his mood – dark, red, and passionate. A solid, black walnut chest stood next to him, under a picture of a rocky, wind-swept seashore. The Warren was holding a celebration today, February 14th, for Valentine’s Day. An amorous mood was shared by all, including the evil Iern by the far wall.
His eyes picked apart the femmes, particularly one light-colored one, with lop ears and a mystical aura around her. Lanikai Kiana, he thought he recalled. Mahj-ahnos was thinking of a relation with her, was he not? Well, that made it all the more appealing to the young, sadistic Iern -- to steal that selfish fool’s female right out from under his nose.
“Mahj.” He had to refrain from spitting at the name. Nothing but an egotistical freak, that’s what he was. Always making such a big deal about how ‘special’ he was. Hyde sneered to himself, and a young kit that had been approaching him scuttled away in fear at the malice behind that simple gesture.
Oh, that fool would certainly be ‘special’ once Hyde got done with him. But for now, his female would do. His gaze rested on her, singling her out from all the others. Ah, yes, what he would do to Lani once he got his claws on her.
“She is a fine one, she is.” He said to himself, speaking aloud. There were a few Iern standing nearby, but he didn’t care if they overheard. “That fool will get his lesson served to him on a bloody plate, he will.”
Several of the Iern nearby moved to a different area of the room.
Hyde sat back on his haunches, raping her slowly in his mind. He could feel her shiver as he entered her, then hear her screech of pain as he ripped her open…
All of this thought aroused him. He hissed with pleasure, drawing his neck back in an arch. He stared at the femme, brutally scrutinizing her, as he imagined her lying on her back, helpless and submissive.
Slowly, a quiet voice bubbled up inside his mind. “No, no, I can’t do that…I can’t…”
“Why not?” Hyde countered, hurriedly trying to suppress his hidden alter ego. “That fool should get what he deserves.”
“No, I have to leave her alone…”
“WHY?” Hyde hissed loudly. Two more Iern moved away, the last remaining pair within twenty feet eying him warily.
“Because it’s not…it’s not…” The voice struggled to come up with the concept, after so much disuse. “It’s not right…I shouldn’t…”
“Silence!” Snapped Hyde. “I can do whatever I want, no one can stop me…”
“But what about her? She won’t like it…it wouldn’t be right…”
“Don’t go telling me what’s right and what’s wrong!” Hah. Right and wrong. Who cared about that? He was all that mattered. He looked out for himself, and only himself. All the others had to defend their own hides – he certainly couldn’t be troubled to help them.
The voice went silent. Hyde sniffed in approval and stood up, starting to walk over to where the femmes stood. He would draw her away, get her alone…
But for some reason he felt himself turning, heading back to the wall after only a few steps. He started to pace there, along the wall. Three steps. Turn. Three steps. Turn.
“Leave. Me. Alone.” He enunciated, slowly and deliberately.
"No…”
“Why not? I can have fun with her. The look on her face when I take her…” He fell silent then, an involuntary shudder of pleasure racking his body.
His side of the room was deserted now, all Iern aware of his presence now safely in another part of the room. They didn’t know why, but the strange Iern pacing along the wall sent shivers of fear and repulsion down their spines. A few of the more aggressive ones felt an almost overwhelming urge to go over and attack Hyde.
Of course, said strange Iern was oblivious to all this. He was too involved in his own internal conflict.
“I shouldn’t be here…shouldn’t be thinking this…why…”
Hyde smirked. “Then don’t. Go, leave me be.”
The voice started to shrink away before his strong will. “I…I…”
“You…you…” Hyde mocked maliciously. “You. Should go away. You weak, inferior being. LEAVE!”
With this outburst, the presence withdrew, and he was once again alone with his thoughts. Growling with irritation, he spun, searching for the femme. He would take her now, in front of everyone, he didn’t care. Throw her down, mount her viciously. She would fall before his superior strength.
But he could not find her. The lop ear was gone. Where…?
Then he spotted her. Leaving with the group of femmes, just passing through the door. No…she was gone, lost in the crowd outside. He couldn’t reach her now.
But the predatory Iern slowly smiled to himself. Maybe not now, but soon…when next they met, her fate would be sealed. Nothing would stand in his way.
--------
Explanation: This scenario is really showcasing Hyde’s frequent internal battles with his “alter ego” or “conscience” *coughjekyllcough*. There was a hinting of this in the previous scenario, but Hyde managed to overcome it and do his evil deed. However, when his evil involves other NRBC crits – making it something more serious – Hyde will usually be thwarted. Unless the other Iern for some reason /wants/ to be raped. <_< Not that I can think of a case in which this would happen – unless the owner /really/ wanted a Hyde kit and didn’t mind if their Iern was scarred for life. *Ahem*.
