Time to fix this darn bed, don't you think?
Here she sits, ready for some work, quite a bit of rust and some dings to deal with. So lets get started Up close and personal with some of the rust. It appears as though we can salvage the metal She lived through 6 hours of grinding, some rust treatment and a toxic dose of self etching primer to cover the bare metal
Some work on the outside of the bed has been tedious. I have spent a week on this side alone A lot of time was spent pounding out the metal to avoid using a lot of bondo. Some is still necessary. Almost completely done. The long straight sander always reveals ripples and imperfections you wouldn't have guessed were there.
The holes were filled. I had to get rid of some sort of hillbilly method of mounting a camper. Holes were drilled in the top of the bed along the edges. Enough to drive you crazy. But she's starting to come. The wheel well won't get the special attention the outside did for the simple fact that Herculiner is going to be put inside Still had to take care of it though. Not completely fixed but the fiberglass is there.
A big rust hole has invaded the corner of the bed. So, time for some surgery. The doctor has made his cut and there is no turning back now. Ok, ok, I know it looks Frankensteinish, but you will never know it was there. (I hope)

Well this is me and my vacation.
