Homeschooling 101

geekGrrl      The main purpose "Homeschooling 101", is to provide information about beginning homeschooling. We'll also provide many homeschool resources and information about computing.
HS 101 also serves as a repository of information from Valdosta Area Homeschooling Assocation's original website, once located here
VAHA.
Their new website is here www.valdostahomeschool.com.

What is Homeschooling?
Homeschooling is defined as the process of providing primary and/or secondary education for children through teaching them at their place of residence rather than sending them to a private or public educational institution.   Homeschoolers are participants in the homeschooling process, either as teachers or students.

This site is under going MAJOR RE-Construction.   So, check back often to see what's new.

You know you're a homeschooler when....

You try to (quickly) capture the huge bee that was knocked unconscious as it accidentally flew into your car window, so the kids can classify and inspect it.

You've got more books than bookcases (stacked in "organized" piles), and more bookcases than anyone you know.

You DREAM of a room with wall to wall, ceiling to floor bookshelves.

The walls of your dining room are decorated with posters of the US Presidents, Periodic Table of Elements, Map of the Moon, Spanish Conjugation Chart and a copy of the Declaration of Independence

You have children draped all over the furniture....and they are reading...for the fun of it!

While driving through town you realize that you've been on a field trip to just about every other building you pass!

You're actually happy to find a mystery container in the back of the refrigerator with a wonderful growth of bacteria...."Get the microscope!"
