PWA Trivia Challenge Answers

1. The PWA Dome is located in St. Louis, Missouri where the Arena used to be.

2. Raizzor won the title at the first Who's the Man.

3. Brian Andersen was the first Rage.

4. Raizzor won the first WTM tournament. He defeated Dr. Steven Remo in the finals, winning the World Title in the process.

5. Rage was not in the finals at last year's Who's the Man. He had left the PWA following the supposed death of his wife, though he was at the PPV to provide color commentary.

6. For reasons known only to the Shocker, he challenged the mute Grifter to an "I quit" match.

7. The Great One never worked for President Robinson.

8. Prior to becoming a contributor to Inside the Ring, Lean Bean Miller was an in-ring reporter for the TWSN.

9. The Brothers Grimm defeated the Hellraizers (Triple B and Animal) to win their first tag team titles. The Hellraizers won the titles just days earlier in a four way tag match for the vacant titles.

10. The Great One was not an original ICON.

11. B. Dubbs went up against Tundra at the first Genesis in a match to fill the new World Title, but lost. He never won the belt. President Robinson and the Corpse are also former champions.

12. Grifter became the first Television champion at the first Who's the Man by winning a battle royal. At the time, the rule was that the TV champ would get a World title shot after three successful defenses. Grifter got a record setting 3 straight title shots before finally losing the TV belt.

13. Fear killed King Agony after several Death Wishes on a ring bell. It was later revealed the Agony hadn't really died, but instead the paramedics that dealt with him were paid off in order to fake his death.

14. The first ever PWA event was entitled "Breaking New Ground". This was both because it was an exciting beginning for the new promotion, but also because it occurred just as construction was beginning on the PWA Dome.

15. Although he wanted to be known as "Sensational" Steve Morley, the name never stuck, mostly due to his lack of wins in the ring. Mikey P. dubbed him the Birdman during their successful tag team run.

16. Before settling on "Sweet Chin Music", HBK used the Back Suplex as a finisher.

17. Hacksaw Jim Duggan won the first Royal Rumble. In an effort to squash the NWA, Vince McMahon ran the Rumble on free cable television against the NWA's Starrcade PPV. The plot worked and Starrcade lost tons of money and severely hurt the promotion.

18. Starrcade happened before the first Wrestlemania.

19. Scott Levy never was an active wrestler in the WWF. He was a manager for a while, Johnny Polo. He was ECW World and tag team champ. In WCW, he was the US champ for 24 hours, before dropping the belt to Goldberg. Shane Martin has obviously wrestled in all three feds, as Dean Martin in the WWF (he was IC champ for about an hour), and as Shane in ECW (where he was World champion) and WCW (where he has been a tag champ). Chris Jericho was TV champ in ECW, TV and Cruiserweight champion in WCW, and European and IC champ in WWF. And World champ, if you want to count the commercial break when he got to wear the belt before the Dusty finish. ;-) Dean Malenko was US and Cruiserweight champ in WCW and LightHeavyweight champ in WWF. He also was the TV champ in ECW. Interestingly enough, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, and Eddy Guerrero were supposed to be in a three way match in the main event at the first ECW PPV, but got signed away by WCW before that happened.

20. Jesse Venture spotted Dino Bravo while Bravo was trying to set a benchpress record. It was very obvious that Venture was actually helping to lift the weights, but at the time, it was the height of heeldom. Oh, how times change.
