T.A.N.S.A. July Trip 2001

The Great Outdoors Experience

Prepared by:     Tony CHIU

20th May 2001

INTRODUCTION

Annual July Ski Trip has been TANSA’s biggest outdoor activity since 1995.  This activity was originally scheduled in late July or early August before double semester system took effect in Auckland University.  Then it was rescheduled to early July in later years to fit into the new inter semester break.  Each year TANSA attracts around 70~80 people for this event.  Though we all have great time each year, but the fact that early July has minimum snow is more and more apparent each year.  Obviously that is no good for a ski trip.

Instead of a ski trip, TANSA committees decide to create a new hybrid trip, which consists of many outdoors activities, the Great Outdoors Experience.  Activities such as tramping, mountain biking, horse riding and 4 wheel driving are possible in this trip.  The trip members will have choices of what they want to do each day, not just all go to skiing and act like a sitting duck in the ski field cafe.  There are more fun out there than just skiing, or be a sitting duck!!  This trip will be ideal for ski beginners who just want a light taste of snow, and people who want to try different types of outdoors activities at their swing of mood.
