Shreenagar
Climbing 30 minutes upon
on foot or driving for ten minutes one can reach the
heavenly blessed top of the Shree nagar hill (ht.1650m),
the place of unforgettable beauties of nature. The pine
forest capped hill has small cottages with beautiful parks
and gardens, playground proposed Golf course) picnic
spots, meditations spots and camping facilities.
From the top of the hill one can view the magnificent
perhaps the longest Himalayan
range that includes Dhaulagiri, Manasalu and the twin
peaks of Machhapuchhre to the north; sweeping Tinau river
valley, the green Terai, Tansen in the mist in the rainy
season, the Madi Valley looping like a large lake of fresh
and beautiful cotton in the winter mornings and peaceful
Tansen in a profound sleep, to the south and far
stretching breath-taking land scape around hill.
Film producers, mediators, picnic enjoyers, golf players
(in near future) may find this place highly appropriate.
Unforgettable scene of sunrise and sunset over the
Himalayas in the morning and evening from the top of the
hill certainly provides piquant charm.
Recently, the top of the hill has been developed into an
open resort providing facilities of tourists cottages,
camping and tripping.
Not only the natural beauties but also the
unique model of "Twadewa" an oil lamp, erected
in the Shreenagar Park reflects the craftsmanship of the
local artisans.

It is in the eastern part
of Shreenagar and bears one of the important
aspects of Lord Buddha's life. As the local
Buddhist legends goes; during the Lord
Buddha's three months meditation in the jungle
- a monkey and an elephant were constantly
serving the Lord in all the ways they could.
Therefore inside the 'Ban' or the forest,
there are many stone images of monkey and
elephant besides that of the Lord. The garden
is surrounded by pleasant forest and is an
ideal place for meditation.
