| I was just wondering something. You know how we always think of Africans as living in jungles and wearing loin cloths? And Russians and living in the tundra of Siberia and wearing tall fir hats? I wonder if anyone thinks of Americans as overall-wearing banjo pickers. Hicks are really the only all-American culture, if you think about it. The banjo isn't even ours, it's African! And the fiddle is Austrian. So that leaves us with blue jeans and ma. Apple pie isn't ours either, it's Scandinavian! Baseball is a warped form of English cricket. Oh, we do have bubble gum. And possum. And Coca-cola. And McDonalds. Gee, we're not very creative. The USA is the world's little sister who's always wearing it's clothes! :o) |
