Free Form Combat Turn Based
Forget all the bullshit you think you know about FF-TB. We're going to make the rules of combat in this style very, very simple. This should minimize the arguing that goes along with this type of combat.
In all my time of participating, and watching this form, the one thing I have noticed, is the lack of sportsmanship. If a gamers is locked into taking a hit, the first thing they yell is MODER! This is NOT going to happen in this forum. Let a log be sent into the VN, with this dishonorable behavior, and you will find yourself with the door hitting you in the ass. NO EXCEPTIONS!
POSTING:: It is not necessary to dance around with your words, i.e., "Hopes the hit makes contact." JUST post! Example: :: Nuno picks up a chair to slam into the back of the mans head.:: If you can think of a way to dodge the attack, then post it, if not, then take the hit. Of course this small post is an example, and does not contain all the description that would be in a real post. Description of the combatants surroundings are imperative. Be sure to have the area worked out in both minds before the combat actually begins. This way no 'cheating' can take place with a last second add on. Continue until one of you is locked into a no win situation.
ALL moves, be they offensive, or defensive, MUST adhere to the laws of physics as we know it. If your character is falling, say, ... upon a knife, gravity says he/she will not be able to wiggle and twist to avoid it unless a foot, or a hand is on something solid enough to allow a push or pull. USE common sense.
REMEMBER! Details are important.
Later on, the VN Council will also work out a dice system for those who prefer the non-arguing way of combat. Don't panic folks! It's just another option to settle character disputes. You may chose either system. But both parties must agree, prior to engagement.
Also, because this is NOT a combat forum, ranks will not be issued. But rather dice will be given according to the characters age, and species. And worked according to the strengths naturally possessed by such. In this way, we have eliminated the need for the traditional Character Sheet. Obviously, a mortal will have weaker dice than the vampyre, and elder vampyres will posses higher dice than the younger, etc.,
ALWAYS make sure there is at least one of you logging the combats. If a dispute arises over who the winner is, send the log into the VN, and the High Council will review, and render their decision. Once this is done, no appeals can be made. Consider it as 'written in stone." |
