| Japan If you have ever thought about traveling abroad, Japan is definately worth looking into. Japan, an island country of 143,619 square miles (which is slightly smaller than California), is located in the Pacific Ocean 115 miles east of the Korean Penninsula. Not only is Japan the most homogeneous country in the world, but this tiny island country has half the population of America! This is over 11 times the population density of the United States! Japan is an extroidanary cross between old and new, a mixture of tradition culture and technology. Go from one town to the next and you`ll never know what you`re going to find. Take the shinkansen to Kyoto to see shrines and temples, visit Tokyo for the big city experience, Okinawa or Hokkaido and you will see an ancient beauty that doesn`t exist in european countries. The people are another reason to choose Japan. Japanese are suprising self-suffient compared to Americans. Everyone seems so busy running from place to place, but they will stop whatever they`re doing to help. The percentage of homeless is the lowest percentage in the world. In Japan, if you don`t work there will not be a faithful tax payer to cover your back! A person`s face, or reputation, will carry with them for the rest of their life, therefore the crime rate is close to nill. The fact being that it doesn`t exist when compared to America.
