These three porcelain vazes were casted in 1993 from the same model, which was at first created from plaster on the wheel. The decor of
the first vase follows unique Russian decorational tradition called "Gzhel", which is carried out in one region of Russia, this village is called "Gzhel", and is about 150 km from Moscow to the north. The unique element used in this type of porcelain's decoration, is the gradient on the brush trace, which is achieved by taking the color (cobalt) only with one side of the flattened brush.
The motif of
the second vase is the Art Nouveau period, and irises as the most popular plant ornament of that time. The irises' decoration has been created as a slightly sculptural element on a vase, using the cobalt mixed with white clay to create thick layer of decoration. It was layed on the vase, using special conus for creating a sculptural ornament.
Oriental decoration on
the third vase was built up on the surface of the vase, using cobalt and other pigments mixed up with the white clay. The vase looks different from the different sides, creating different moods with its vivid natural decor.
